Boot heels,peeling

Hi, I've got a good pair of leather knee boots , the heels are covered in narrow strips of leather I think.
They have come off from knocking into stone steps etc and driving and you can now see the white plastic of the heel block making them unusable.
Has anyone an idea how I could cover them? Or peel it all off and spray them?
