This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone.
Think we're in two camps. One, like me, still under the duvet sheltering from rain, wind and the washing up, the second 'up and at 'em' group who have been bustling and busy all morning.
I'm enjoying a little lazy start. The mattress topper is so lovely, it's also very cosy as I chose the feather and down filled one. Very toasty!
My day will either have hive of activity or a dearth of it. I planned to go shopping as none was done yesterday, one look in the fridge tells me that it's not urgently needed so I'm not going to bother. :j
I hope that everyone is having a peaceful time. Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, I'm somewhere in the middle of the two camps, washing done, bathrooms cleaned but I'm still in my pjs!
I went for a lovely meal with friends yesterday in Glasgow, it was good to walk away from the house and garden for a while. I stopped on the way home for petrol and decided to check the tyres on the car - oh dear, really should do it more often - it's like there's extra power steering!
Nothing pressing today, the weather is too miserable to do anything exciting, may just try to finish the baby cardy, I'm certainly not a knitter!
Have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX0 -

Good morning chums just done my menus for the week ahead, and will soon be prepping veg, whilst listening to The Archers on the wireless I have been doing this on a Sunday morning for more years than I care to remember
My normal Sunday morning routine , boring to some no doubt, but I actually enjoy routine. I shall also do my baking for some cake for the cake tins, I fancy a sultana and cherry cake this week, and will probably make a cherry and coconut cake for my son-in-law as well. He makes a delicious Sunday dinner every week which I always go to so I like to give him a treat as well now and again .
the sun is truggling to shine although its been tipping down all night ,but its not at all cold which is good and saves on the heating
Hope everyone has a peaceful and happy day and you enjoy whatever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning folks and thanks GERS and another grr from me. Another load of waffle eaten and gone forever.
Bedding stripped off and on its last lap in the wm. Looking out of the window I don't think it will be getting pegged out. Sunny spells forecast but I am not holding my breath. The usual battle of TA versus the SK will be taking place when I have summoned up the energy.
I actually made a start on the long promised job of cleaning the windows and frames yesterday. I downed tools after I had done all the downstairs ones, I was shattered, so the job of doing the upstairs will resume today. SCARLET R I read your tip earlier about wetting the windows more so the vac is now charging in readiness. Fingers crossed for streak-free windows this time around!
GERS the mattress topper sounds as if it has been money well spent.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. A wave to our absent friends. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
The WM is on but the sky doesn't look like it knows whether to rain or not, so I may be doing the hokey cokey with it. ( the washing, not the rain !)
Mr Fix it has gone to Li*l with Dad, he didn't seem too happy as he had to give up an x box session with the GDS. Dad wants a new hand held cleaner and they are in the middle aisle today, so they have gone to look. ( bet he won't buy one ). Meanwhile I will get on with the lunch, roast chicken, roasties and veg. Not much else on the cards for today.
Taff lovely to "see" you. I'm sure you and your sis have done your Dad proud. Time now to have some breathing space for yourself. Many hugs to you, my welsh butty xx
Hope everyone has a good Sunday
Take care

Morning all! After a load of wind and rain yesterday today is sunny so far which has ramped up my desire to 'do'.
I will be visiting the [STRIKE]dump[/STRIKE]/recycling center today with a bed that although is frame-wise intact, has lost all the the little moon shaped bits that keep it steady, and the mattress which has seem better days. To get the mattress in, I'm going to have to cut it in half, and since I'm ashamed of the state of it, putting it in an old duvet to transport.
I've already attacked the fridge and coffee/tea area with throwing out things I won't drink or things that are very out of date.
I'm going all Swedish death-cleaning with a vengeance...
I may even start on the prepping veg for the freezer from the garden, which mostly involves celery for soups and stews, beans and tomatoes. I do like the sound of forzen whole tomatoes, they sound like pool or snooker balls clacking together.
Have a good day if you can folks, let's be careful out thereSunny Sunday....

Hi everyone
Miserable day here too, though the rain isn't as heavy as was forecast. Been down to mam and dads for coffee this morning and now just having a nice lazy afternoon. Will go down to DDs later with some curry for tea and to bring little grand daughter home to stay the night. I made the curry yesterday and made enough to feed about 14 people!
I volunteered at our local cinema/theatre yesterday afternoon and saw Downton Abbey...I enjoyed it. Friday night I had little grand daughter to stay and we had a lovely play and cuddles before I took her home to DD before my movie.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend0 -
I just had to come back and say that. I have just been sitting in the garden in the sunshine in a sheltered spot. There is washing drying on the line too. Happy Days.

TA if the wetting the windows more tip doesn't improve things it's worth having a look at the Ecloth mini mop. I started using the large Ecloth mop on the hard floors downstairs years ago as it was quicker and easier on the arthritis and fibro.
The windows here are very big and I started to struggle with them. Someone told me there was a mini mop and it works for me. I bought it for the bathroom tiles but noticed reviewers were using it to clean windows. I can stand on the floor and it reaches to the tops so no ladders or steps needed.
I use a damp pad and then a dry one to polish . I know JL and Lakeland used to sell the large mop but don't know if they sell the smaller version. I found it on Amazon and used a seller Housecare Essentials ltd and delivery was tracked and quick. Positive is you just need warm water no products required.
On the subject of ladders and steps I bought a platform ladder years ago and it's served me well, just a few deep steps and a platform with side rails, safe when the fibro fog descends and concentration goes!
Warm wishes to those on the daily.
