Weekly Flylady Thread 24th September 2018
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Christmas Cake Boxes
I’m baking four Christmas Cakes this year. One for myself the others as presents. I’m using the Delia Smith recipe. It’s baked in a 20 cm round cake tin To keep it fresh I appreciate I’ll have to keep it well wrapped but I’m wondering what’s the best type of cake tin to use taking presentation into account; one slightly…

Using bananas to ripen tomatoes - ethylene
I have boxes and boxes of home grown green tomatoes in the shed and I have just had Lidl's bargain waste not box and amongst the contents are 19 just ripe bananas. I think they will turn quite quickly and I won't be able to use them unless I dehydrate them. I don't want them to rot in the boxes of green tomatoes. Does…

Heinz "Mayochup"
Hey Guys, Came across this new Heinz sauce on twitter earlier. The new cross between Mayo and Ketchup... "Mayochup". It seems after a twitter poll held by Heinz it will be hitting UK shelves very soon. But it got me thinking, would it not be cheaper to just buy the Ketchup and Mayo separate and mix it up yourself? What do…

Fix my cooker?
I've got a 3 year old cooker that needs a kick most times to get the fan to work. Hubby's had the back off and cleaned it, can't see anything obviously wrong. I don't want to waste money on a new cooker, especially after only 3 years. Has anyone else had this trouble with their fan oven? How did you fix it? TIA

Where can I buy cotton waist slips?
I'm looking for a cotton or polycotton petticoat (although they don't seem to be called that anymore) I'd prefer to try one on in store. Thanks

Do you ever get that feeling? The floor needs vaccing, the pot plant's shed its leaves on the window sill, the mother in laws tongues need re-potting, I've got a letter to write, supper to cook and I've no idea what to do with the golden beet I boiled this morning. Cupboards need wiping, the bath needs scrubbing, the…
