This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
This morning I need to take some parcels to the post office. I had to order some sports bras to wear post op and so far haven’t managed to find any that fit. It is hard to find them in my size as I’m so small busted, so there are three parcels to go back.
I have a rough date to go into hospital now. It will be within the next four weeks but could even be sooner rather than later, so I really do need to get everything sorted out within the next few days.
While I’m in town I want to get a couple of keys cut so that a couple of neighbours have got one, and a friend of mine is going to hold one just in case I need help when I come home but for some reason can’t get to the door. Unlikely I know, but I will feel more secure knowing she can get in.
I think coffee and cake will be a necessity while I’m out as well.
I have a load to go into the washing machine, but looking at the weather forecast it will need to be dried in the TD.
TA the hospice sounds like it is a really lovely peaceful setting and that Mr TA is getting good care. I’m pleased that you and your family are being looked after and supported as well. Thinking of you all xx
Lainey I hope that the dining room has dried out.
Silver-Oldie I’m another one who will lay awake for hours with thoughts rushing about things I can’t change or do anything about. It’s a real pain,
I hope that you all have decent day whatever you are up to.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I am holding the TA family in my thoughts, I think we all are doing that. I am glad to know that you are being well supported and hope that our virtual support will help sustain you.
Autumn seems to be here now, leaves fa,long fast and a real drop in temperatures. To go with it, I'm now pretty lurgified. I went to bed after dinner and slept through to 4.30, so even if I feel rubbish, it isn't tired rubbish.
The migraine has passed, can't remember who asked if I get a visual blank spot but no, I don't. I am fortunate, I get just cobalt blue rectangles and tge occasional patch of swirling, shimmering lines. No vomiting and jot much of a headache even. I've had tge full-blown migraine only 2 or 3 times, that included the headache and virtually no vision at all, a bit scary.
Today I'm not doing very much at all.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Thank you Holly for starting us off, I hope you managed to get a little bit more sleep before your busy day starts x
I had a bad night as Lee is not doing so well again. He had a break down last night and immediately all my fears and worries came flooding back as if they had never left. Practically, we have upped his meds and will call his care co ordinator today to keep him in the loop and I will be keeping a very close eye on Lee today.
I have lots and lots of washing to do today as we changed to the winter duvet yesterday. There are also a hundred million towels it seems like to twirl through the machine. I also need to find my cardigans so I can keep warm without putting the heating on too much. The downstairs needs hoovering so that will be a job for Phoebe this morning.
No idea what is for dinner tonight. I have mince in the fridge but I don't know if it is still ok. I shall have to give it the sniff test but the last thing I need is food poisoning so the slightest doubt and it will be binned. Same with the chicken in there. I have lost the plot a bit about using stuff up in time last week so I will have to be more organised this week as I hate throwing food away.
Hope you all manage to have a good week whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
Thinking of you all TA, sounds like a loving and caring place who are looking after you all.
I had a lovely weekend in the caravan, I have to admit it was actually OK and if I didn't have to take my car in this morning I would probably have stayed on my own last night. The site was lovely and quiet and very child friendly, the DGC had a ball. We were swimming, walking, scooting and they went to the playpark a few times. The beach was over the road and we flew kites and collected shells. Don't tell anyone but I may do it again sometime!
I'll take the car over to the garage (it's still under warranty) and get the bus back, haven't been on a bus for years. Lots to do here today, looks like the weather will be good so all the washing can go out. Cut the grass last night when I got home so the garden looks fairly tidy.
Hope you've all had a good weekend, happy Monday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning
Really chilly this morning but apparently we may get a final blast of summer at the end of the week so looking forward to that
Working from home today have a course to prep for tomorrow but haven't been sent the final brief yet so will on edge all day till that arrives
Finished the hash off yesterday in 3 lotsno freezer stock for me then. Not sure why but I was so hungry this weekend gone were any thoughts of my go to feta cheese salad must be the change in weather. Still lots of salad in the fridge though so will have to get back to summer for a bit till thats gone.
Carrying the TAs in my thoughts too.
Have a good day all0 -
Morning all
It seems very cold here this morning, no heating on yet I would like to wait a bit longer but we will see, I usually try and wait till Nov but I don't think we will this year, it seems colder somehow, either that or my tolerance has got lower.
We left earlyish yesterday to go and pick mum up in Bexhill, the area looked very nice and somewhere I would like to go back to and explore, we only stopped for a cuppa and a quite bite to eat before coming back as the weather was quite unpredictable.
Back to work today, the weekends go so quickly, I am not sure about dinner tonight I will go and look in the freezer after this, I think there is a quiche in there, talking about the freezer AO have finally agreed to replace it for me :jafter nearly two months of phone calls and constant badgering I have finally got an answer, its being delivered Saturday and the old one taken away :jThe light has gone in it too now as I think its got wet !! so im glad its going !!
Hugs to the TA's the hospice sounds so lovely and peaceful xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly
Gentle hugs to all who want/ need them.
Special thoughts are with you Mr and Mrs TA. Pleased you are getting care and support
Think we will go out for lunch today, not much else planned. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone,
We have cold water here but no hot or heating so getting washed and dressed has been a relay exercise with taking kettles of boiling water upstairs to the bathroom, to top it off DOH has an interview this afternoon so needed to shave as well!
Plumber is meant to be here soon to crack on with sorting it out, the dining room ceiling is a mess with brown patches all over it, oh well it will be a good excuse to decorate the whole room
It is cold this morning and looks like the first frost of Autumn out there but clear, blue skies so hopefully will warm up quickly. We do have a couple of small fan heaters so can always pop one on if needed.
Hugs to Dumpling and all those struggling at the moment.
Thoughts as always with the TA’s
Have a good day folks x0 -
Chilly here today and OH just said frost on the windscreen.
Holly thank you for the new page, hugs to Holly, Dumpling, the TAs and all that are going through the mill. Lainey hope you get the plumbing fixed soon. HUH have the water levels risen for you now?
Slept well, but still exhausted, have spent the last two days driving around and caravan viewing, we decided on one, new to us, a weeny bit bigger, but with twin beds this time, so should be much easier for OH who always had to sleep against the wall in the current one, and less disturbance for me. A hectic week in store, current one to be emptied of every single item which is not part and parcel of it, then made shiny clean for inspection for the PX, if all goes well swap them over on Thursday and do the whole thing in reverse.
Not really grumbling, I know that I am very fortunate in so many ways, just need the energy to go with it.
Keep warm and take care all. xThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hospital this morning, then the gutters are being cleaned, first time in three years, they do need it thanks to the birds knocking moss off the roof all the time and the lovely weeds growing out of it on the sides...uh oh...
Reading and running thanks to running a bit late, didn't realise the time...
thanks for the link dumpling
Hope you all have as good start to the weekNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
