Afternoon all,
Well it's a lovely sunny day and a bit breezy so the bed was stripped, the washing done and hung out before we went out.
First port of call was the surgery to put in Mr Fix It's script, then on to Hal*ords for some Bobby Dazzler caravan wash. Just popped into TK maximus for a squizz and then had to have a coffee in Ne*t. I don't know where the time has gone today as I have a million and one things I want/need to do. This retirement lark is not at all what I expected .
This afternoon I asked Mr Fix It to help me turn the mattress, so we have taken the mattress toppers off too and they have been given a good shake ( they are still outside airing in the sunshine :j ) and the mattress has been hoovered. I also took the valance off and washed that. I shall leave replacing it all until tonight as we are on DGC pick up from school. They are staying till DD arrives ( she has a child protection meeting ) and then we shall all have tea together, as DSiL has an open evening at his school.
Tea tonight will be toad in the hole, oven chips/ potatoes, veg and gravy, followed by a selection of cake. Sorry I have bought some cake, not very OS.
Speky and Camelot I'm glad you had a good holiday
MaddieMay good luck with the caravan hunt. We have single beds too, having to climb over someone during the night is not my kind of fun . Well not now anyway:D.
Dumpling sending you lots of cwtches. Hope today is a better day for you all.
LaineyT taking the kettle up to the bathroom brings back memories of my childhood, before central heating/ hot water on tap. Hope you get things sorted soon.
TA I hope the sun shines on you and Mr Ta today too. Sending my love as always.
Holly hope you get your bra problem sorted, have you tried M & S, they have a fitting service if my memory serves me correctly. Unfortunately I have the opposite problem.
Sorry if I have forgotten anyone, it is not intentional.
Hugs to anyone who is poorly, their carers or just struggling with daily life at present.
I must now empty the DW and refill it and then run the gauntlet whilst retrieving the washing. I'm sure the squirrels are up in the trees throwing nuts down on me when I'm at the whirly :rotfl:
Take care allFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Thanks for starting us off Holly. Tea & cake are definitely the order of the day
AoD, glad you are on the mend, even if you are lurgified
Dumpling, sorry to hear about Lee - my first thought was that he probably felt bullied about the day at college. Hope you can settle Lee & please take care of yourself.
Camelot, sounds like you had a lovely weekend.
Nelski, the fall in temperatures is definitely to blamebut at least you were eating proper food :T I on the other hand have succumbed to junk food - crisps & teacakes
Redruby, good news about the freezerbut you really shouldn’t have had to chase them - very poor show from AO
silver-oldie, hope you enjoy your lunch :A
Lainey, hope the plumber is quick & efficient & that you have hot water by the end of the day.
maddiemay, hope the PX goes well & that you will soon have your new caravan
-taff, hope the hospital visit goes well. We are fortunate re our gutter clearing as our window cleaner also does gutters :T
Olliebeak, bright clear day here in East London but oh so chillyWe are lucky here with refuse collections - weekly rubbish & recycling collections & during the summer weekly garden refuse collections but I think it goes to fortnightly when winter puts in an appearance.
Gers, hope your online application for your local library is successful today.
Scarlet Ribbons, sounds like you had a wonderful day Saturday. DH & I do not really have seasonal clothes (apart from a couple of pairs of shorts) - we just add layers as the temperature drops& eventually switch on the heating (although had to put the heating on for a couple of hours this morning:()
Hester, did you find out why the water levels were so low? Seems a long time to wait for winter mooring
bellabella, autumn is lovely unless it rains
TA, sounds like a lovely day yesterday. The hospice sounds like a lovely place, with caring staff who try to keep not only the patients lives as stress free as possible but also the families.
Csarina, nice to know that OH is happy with his CA
Speky, sounds like a perfect holidayIf I forget - Good Luck for your interview
WeeMidgie, sounds like your cat will be spoilt rottenbut a nice way to make friends
Bit of a nightmare for my DH - started having a problem with one of his eyes Saturday evening & by Sunday evening he was having a major problem. Looked up his symptoms & headed straight off to Moorfields Eye Hospital. Diagnosis is a detached retina & was told to go back 8:30 this morning. We got the impression it was to have the op but transpires was just for a clinic to have the diagnosis confirmed by the consultant who will perform the surgery & get DH in the queue.
Mad panic this a.m. as we didn’t hear the alarm clock - woke at 7:30 & DH was out the door climbing into a cab by 07:44 :T He arrived by 08:15 to a full waiting room. Not seen until 2 hours latter & then has been waiting for another 3.5 hours for his paperworkStill not home. Apparently his op will be by the end of the week.
Hugs to all those who want or need one.

Afternoon - I'm just doing a little 'escape' from the truculent teenagers whilst they get on with some work!
After my morning session I collected a neighbour from the local garage where he had left his car for repair. He lives away away up a horrible winding track. As the cows were out I had to follow four which really didn't want to get off the track and onto the miles of lush greenery.
For my 'troubles' his wife cut me a lovely red cabbage from her raised bed. :j I've now got it sliced up waiting for the next stage in my efforts to make sauerkraut. Everything is ready for when this session finishes at 6pm, hope I get it right.
Once they are finished then I'll sort out the cabbage and then settle down for the evening. It's very blowy, sunny and rainy outside - can't make its' mind up at all.
I managed to register for the online library and then couldn't login. Whilst the sign up asks for a password I need a PIN to login in, the system gave me a temporary one which won't work. Technology is brilliant until it doesn't do what it's supposed to.0 -
Oh dear MrsSD, sounds to me like you and your DH need a hug or two as well ! I hope everything goes well for MRSD towards the end of the week. I shall send him positive and healing vibes.
Take care of yourselves.
I agree Gers, technology is wonderful until it goes t*ts up
............ Olliebeak, I think you said your nearest beach is Southport, it's nice there isin't it, I like the town as well. One of my nephews lives there and we were there in the summer, on a caravan site, we had a great few days ................
Southport IS lovely, but so changed from when I was a child - no Open-Air Swimming Pool now, no permanent Fairground (with Fun House/Wooden Roller Coaster/Noah's Ark/River Caves), no Zoo, no Model Village and no 'Peter Pan Fairground' for kiddies. The other thing about Southport ................... you very rarely get to actually 'see the sea' - it's always a v-e-r-y long way out
! One of my neighbours has a caravan on Riverside Caravan Park, which is extremely popular
.
Mrs SD - Wow - you are lucky with your refuse collections. Our Household Rubbish (maroon bin) is fortnightly; our Recycling (grey bin) is the alternate fortnight; our Garden Waste (blue bin) is three-weekly (very confusing ) from late Feb-late Oct only. Hope all goes well for Mr S-D with his eye op.
Wee Midgie - how lovely that you can share your feline friend with your neighbours :T. do you have any 'cat cafes' close to where you live, would be a great outing for Afternoon Tea for your neighbours? We visited one in Stirling a couple of weeks ago - so good to have a 'furry cuddle', or three. The owner was eyeing up my bag as I left - just to see if there was 'any movement' from inside :rotfl: We've also got one here in Liverpool and another in Manchester.
Speky Squarehead - good luck with the interview.
Mrs TA - hope BiL takes the hint soon. Would be very embarassing for him if the Manager had to get involved - but CAN 'sort of' understand, if he's been very close to MrTA in the past. I very nearly lost my younger sister last Christmas (two ruptured aneurysms) and I just felt so lost when I saw her lying there 'out of things' - I kept remembering her 'as a baby' and realised that I'm the only person in the family that DOES remember her that way .
Had my Annual Review at GP Surgery earlier - 'Health Care Professional' not happy with my BP, so have to return tomorrow to see the GP. Now it'll be even worse through anxiety
. On the other hand, my Cholesterol is brilliant :j!!! Didn't get my Flu Jab either - Pharmacist was very busy. Health Care Lady NOT HAPPY about him offering to do the jab - he's poaching customers from the surgery ....................... oh dear, looks like I'm piggy-in-the-middle on this one
:rotfl: !
