Old Style Daily Tuesday 18th September 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

  • Morning everyone

Thank you all for your kind wishes, it really does make a difference and I appreciate each and every one of you taking the time to wish me well.

I spent a lot of yesterday concentrating on making lists of things that I want to get done in the next couple of weeks before I have surgery, like some batch cooking for the freezer so that I have got a good assortment of HM ready meals, cleaning the inside of the windows and painting that darn hallway wall yet again.

I also picked up two Christmas presents when I was in town yesterday. I want to make sure that I have everyone’s present and card in case I don’t feel like shopping.

Today I am going to have a day out somewhere. I haven’t decided exactly where yet or what I want to do, but feel like I need to go and do something different. There is no point in moping about feeling sorry for myself, because that isn’t going to help me or make any difference to the situation.

TA I hope that Mr TA has caught up on his sleep and is much more comfortable now. I was sorry to read about your friend from the wine and carvery group. x

    Enjoy your holiday snoozer.

Cranky I am very lucky, the consultant is really listening to me and tailoring the treatment to what I can cope with emotionally, and the whole team at the breast unit are being fabulous and really supportive.

Bellabellla I’m so sorry to hear about what has happened to you on the forums, there are some really strange people about with nothing better to do. Please post on the thread if you feel that you can, I enjoyed your posts and miss them.

JackieO thank you for posting about your personal experience, I hope that I can find the strength to fight this and come out the other end stronger with a good outlook on life like you have.

Taff I didn’t realise that you are going through the same thing, I’m really sorry to hear this. I hope that the treatment is going well for you.

Sounds like a horrendous journey home nannywindow. I’m pleased to hear that you had a good relaxing time though.

It’s good that you had a better day teaching yesterday than you did the previous Monday Gers. Hopefully it will continue now that you have found strategies that work with the teenagers.

Lindsay C please feel free to join in and rant away about work and MS. If it is what is happening in your world and what is going on for you, and then I would enjoy reading your posts, what is going on for all of us is different. Have a good holiday on the IOW.

Maddiemay It was good to read that the infusion was ok, a shame about the long day though. I’m not surprised that you are shattered.

I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are up to today.

    Take care everyone xx
  • Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

I shall be having a day to myself as OH and DS will be out for the day.

THe Met Office has just notified me that the high winds warning has been cancelled so the howling and rattling must be imaginary. It blows the cobwebs away at least.

Thinking about all of us who are having or waiting for treatments and those caring for ir worried about others. TA I was sad to hear of your friend's death.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning All

Great positive attitude Holly, enjoy your day out.
Sorry to hear of your friend TA.
    You're safe here Bella!

Strange weather last night, really mild (as it still is) but really windy and dry. This morning there isn't a breath of wind and it's pouring down.

I had a problem returning the spare wheel I bought but a work colleague sorted it out and I hauled the blessed thing along to the post office yesterday, I had to roll it along the queue it was so heavy and awkward. Still, it's gone from the hall and I should have a refund soon.

Hope you all have as good a day as possible, take care. XX

Good morning, and thankyou for starting off Holly.
The weather seems ok as far as I can tell, we'll see what today brings. I've put a load in the WM, hope I can get it out on the line.

Holly, I was so sorry to read your post when I caught up last night - it's a shock isn't it. Trying to carry on as normal is a good thing, routine is very helpful at times.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly 3 years ago. I had a lumpectomy, and lymph gland removal, then further treatment. I'm halfway through a 5 year course of tablets, and still having hospital check ups.
I'm sure your family and friends will support you in this - mine did. Your virtual friends here will be backing you as well.

Hope everyone else is all right, thinking especially of the TA's.

    Take care folks.

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dull and cloudy here, still warm and breezy. Will get another load pegged out on the line. It was a lovely sunny warm day yesterday in the end, hoping today will be the same.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he will probably go for a run before brekkie and then catching a lift with me to go to the gym.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I had baked fish and veg. Tonight I'm not sure as the boys are going to watch the local team play football so won't need food, and the hairdresser is coming to, so DS2 will get his haircut first. I also have fat club, don't think I've done anything again, so feel a bit deflated as I've been good, we'll see what the scales say later.

Work yesterday was quiet with bursts of being busy, we'll see what today brings, telephones ringing off the hooks most of the day though.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Much love and strength for you xx

Flying visit from me. Looks very drab out there no idea if rain is forecast. But it still feels very mild. Washing to be done but yet to sort. Jobs get done as and when they can these days. More important things to see to first. Speaking of who, he is sitting up in bed with a coffee but says he didn't sleep very well so I expect to find him back asleep when I go back upstairs. He sleeps an awful lot and yesterday slept through two visitors (our DS and his DB) without even knowing they had been. He was awake when DD called with the 3 DGDs after school but was soon asleep when they left. I suppose it's part and parcel of the disease as well as the pain relief he is on.

Have a good day folks, off to don my nurses uniform now and see what the day holds. Take care all and ((HUGS)) for all who need/want them. xx

    Good morning folks.

Unusually I lay awake for ages last night, then woke at my normal time. I think it's something to do with the weather / atmosphere.

Today I've to ring the body shop to check on progress. I'm hoping it'll be ready tomorrow. Other than that there's some paperwork to be done for my volunteer work. That'll only take an hour. There'll some prepping for Wednesday and Thursday too.

Great plans HH - it's impressive that you are keeping yourself going with planning.

Last night I watched 'Missing', it was such a sad story with a bad ending. So awful for the family. It made me further appreciate what I have.

Anyway...my day must start. I wish my virtual family a very happy Tuesday.
