Diabetic-friendly, lower calorie recipe ideas?
Hi gang :) I wonder if any of you have tried and tested recipes you wouldn't mind sharing with me? I've recently become mainly responsible for shopping in my household, as my mother fell into the 'see what's on offer - Ooh pretty price!' trap that means you have bizarre meals. We once ended up with chopped radish in lemon…

Cheap Hamper Materials Ideas
Hi all, Couldn't think where to put this thread so apologies if it's in the wrong place! I'm planning on making some homemade food hampers for Christmas and have got ideas for bits to go in them, but it seems that the expensive bits are the extras - jars and bottles to put the things I make in, and the hampers themselves.…

New jeans have their colour washed onto other clothes, how to fix?
First pair of jeans with this problem, put them in wash with 2 white bathtowels and pjamas, and some white cloths. Now all are gray coloured! For the cloths and towels I assume I can use something like soda crystals but the pyjama bottoms are blue with pattenrs and the top is white/gray with a transfer/image on it so don't…

Has anyone tried the 5:2 diet
This is the diet where you fast for two days per week and then eat what you want the rest of the time. Its supposed to be good for your health aswell as helping to lose weight. I am trying it but finding it very difficult to stick to just 500 calories on the fast days and I feel out of focus when I'm at work. My friend…

Keeping beaten egg?
I've just made some bread and I brushed it with a bit of beaten egg before baking it, and I've quite a lot of egg left. Can I keep in a jar in the fridge to use in the next day or two? It seems a waste to chuck it as I will probably make bread or pastry again in that time.

How do you get the Old Style love back?
It has been a tough time with drama, courts and custody but hopefully (touch wood / fingers crossed etc.) things are settling down. But I have got lazy ...... I used to love all the old fashioned homemaking stuff and really put an effort into fitting it into my day. Between the stress, working shifts, and studying it has…

Using up 'dry' apples.
I have a tree in my garden which is laden with apples. They look a bit like a russet, with a dry, golden brown skin. They are quite dry on the tongue when you try to eat them, though they are fairly juicy IYKWIM. They just aren't very nice for eating. But they aren't a cooking apple, are sweetish but pretty bland. They are…

How long should bread last ?
I refuse to eat bread from the fridge so I keep ours in a bread bin but over the past 3-4 months I've noticed it going off after about 2days, I'm talking full on green mould. The bread rarely lasts until the date on the label regardless of the brand. I'm so annoyed about this and the wasted food and money :mad:that I'm…
