First pair of jeans with this problem, put them in wash with 2 white bathtowels and pjamas, and some white cloths.
Now all are gray coloured!
For the cloths and towels I assume I can use something like soda crystals but the pyjama bottoms are blue with pattenrs and the top is white/gray with a transfer/image on it so don't want to damage that.

Dr Beckhams colour run remover, not saying it will be perfect but it does work. They do sound like they are already damaged.0

Why would you put blue jeans in a wash with whites?
Seriously.
You seperate washes. At least darks and lights
If you can run a 40 min shower everyday, you can afford to seperate your washes0 -

Never had a problem before and I don't want to be wasteful and do more washes than needed plus being a single person I don't need to do more than one wash a week.
And I generally don't have showers that long anymore (more like 20 minutes average) and thats once a day.0 -
I can't believe you put new clothes in with white towels!
I'd have not put 2 year old, well-washed, jeans in with white towels.
Whites are whites.
Coloureds are coloureds.
And that's how they stay.
I wouldn't even wash new jeans with other coloureds that were lighter! New clothes should always be washed, preferably by hand, separately - just to see what happens, so you can judge it for whether they can go in the machine yet with other stuff.
I even stick to white sheets and have some white bath-towels just so I can guarantee to always be able to make up a whites load!
Good luck with that ....0 -
The colour run sheets mentioned above to work. They work better if you wash the affected clothes again with them before you let them dry. I'd also suggest putting 2-3 sheets (more is not necessary) in the wash with the clothes and using a cycle that has an extra rinse/pre-wash. If you notice that it has worked some, but not completely, then do another was with fresh colour run sheets. I had a mistake with one small white item in a wash of dark colours once. I believe it took 3-4 washes but the item was fairly close to its original colour after than.
Realized that I should clarify--this is not how the sheets are intended to be used. They're intended for things like striped garments that might bleed and you shouldn't use them to avoid having to sort washing, but they will help you to rectify the error. Probably not perfectly on something this severe but they will offer improvement.0 -
Oh, heck! Washing any dark coloured new garment with lights is asking for trouble!
Just doing one washing is false economy.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Where did I say I can't afford to do more than one wash per week when I specifically said I am a single person who struggles to fill machine (and doesn't want to use machine more often than I need)
Technically this was the 2nd wash I did with them, did a quick wash when at parents last week which I believe was a lower temperature.0 -
Always wash new jeans inside out too...Dwy galon, un dyhead,

Tip for anyone with new jeans: before you wear new jeans, always soak them in vinegar and water to fix the colour.
