This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Off to work I a sec,, then collecting DGD, then to the train station for hubby to buy a ticket for Saturday.

Morning everyone and thank you for starting us off Hester.
OH and DS off in an hour to spend the day elsewhere and as I am meant to wake them, my internal alarm clock went off two hours early.
I have a whole day to mess about and do boring things all by myself. Excellent, as they'll be back late afternoon so a good balance for one day.
I can do what my son refers to as unnecessary cleaning.
Tomorrow I'll probably spend time with a friend, Saturday is a nothing much sort of day and on Sunday will see another friend. Then back to my grindstone.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone.
It's very grey outside, doesn't look promising at all. Yesterday was mostly so sunny and warm.
This morning I have a local hospital run to do and then this afternoon I return to FE teaching with a gentle plonk!
My parsnip soup turned out very tasty with the added spark of ginger. The mince became meatballs which are in the freezer for another day.
AOD - enjoy your 'free' day. Make the most of it.
I hope everyone has a good Thursday.0 -
Morning All
Washing in - it's due to be a nice day for a change! Yesterday was dry but that was about it, still warm though so not all bad.
Went for a swim after work, I swear someone filled the pool with treacle, found it really difficult. Cut the grass when I got home - see Gers' post from yesterday for an accurate account!
Taking my faulty TD to Currys after work to get a new one then up to Glasgow to meet DD for dinner, it's DHs anniversary today and we always go for a meal to have a laugh/cry.
Hope you are all well and poorlies are on the mend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, but foggy here this morning, it was slightly misty yesterday but it burned off and then became another warm and sunny day, hopefully we'll get similar today.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly to get ready for college.
Dinner last night was chicken portions, mash, carrots, LO cauli/broc cheese, yorkshires and some freshly made gravy - all eaten and enjoyed, although it was nearly a disaster, I stopped off on the way home to buy the chicken portions fresh, there was only a couple of packs left so they were right on the bottom of the fridge in the SM, got home and put them straight into the fridge because it's so hot here at the moment, went to put them into the baking dish to go into the oven and some of the pieces were frozen - so I checked every piece and half the pack had chicken portions that were part frozen, luckily I was able to defrost the frozen bits in the micro and then re-checked it wasn't frozen and cook it in the oven. Tonight I'm not sure what we will be eating, but I have some chicken in the fridge, a chorizo sausage, and plenty of mushrooms, I'm thinking possibly mushroom chow mein, then a rice dish with chicken the chorizo and veg in it.
Today I need to go into town to visit the bank and building society. I also have training at work, so will go to that and then town. I also have a docs appointment for tea time, not ideal but an online food shop is being delivered between 4-5pm, so had to take what fitted in! I also need to continue with the washing, drying and ironing, pack for DH and myself as we're going away tomorrow morning, then all the normal stuff! Going to be a busy day, but that's good as it keeps my mind from wandering and I do actually feel like I've achieved something at the end of the day, it stops the low mood from creeping in.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning all, still warm and sticky here in Kent ,I'm actually looking forward to being a bit cooler later this week.I have to go to the dreaded shops today to get my third food shop of the month.Virtually run out of lots of things as I have been eating from my stores I still have lots of stuff for dinners its just things like fresh fruit and veg and UHT milk plus some cleaning and toiletries stuff. But as I have only spent around £12.11 this month my grocery purse is still pretty full.It will be my last shop to get this month so I am happy with that:).I am off to Scotland tomorrow morning until late Sunday night so not a lot of cooking to be done over the week-end.But I have such a lot planned for next week I just would be hard pushed to find an hour or so to shop,so I thought as I have a spare hour this morning I will get out before the streets are aired and get my bits and pieces early.
My gardener is coming mid-morning so I have to be back before 11.00.He made a superb job of clearing my DDs garden on Tuesday it was the hottest day of the year 34.5c and bless him he worked so hard I was impressed. The waste clearance chap in going there tomorrow morning to remove all the green waste and accumulated junk from their garden including an old shed that my gardener had demolished, DD is quite excited as she will be able to plan her new garden from scratch as its been completely emptied out.
Right time to get a wriggle on, gone seven and not a body in the house washed yet:):)
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning all,
Its bit grey here this morning we are meant to get heavy rain this afternoon but we will see !
Off to work today back to the busy site and a busy day today but it will make the day pass quickly.
Dinner tonight will be pork chops (we had some last night from an eight pack and they were lovely) and chips and peas so a nice easy meal.
Got an online shop being delivered too so will put that away and I will do a wash.
DD has been asked to apply for a job that's coming up, the manager of a sister firm where she works approached her and asked her to apply, the money is excellent so fingers crossed she gets an interview.
Camelot hugs to you both today xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all, thanks for the thread Hester xx
15 new members at youth club last night. How will I ever remember all their names. Don't know how teachers manage with 30 all in one go lol!
Had a rubbish nights sleep and seriously considering taking today off. I've been munched by something on my leg and twice on my arm and the one on my leg is quite nasty. Obviously I am very tastyDinner tonight will be gammon steaks from Aldi, mash and veg which i need to get later. Will also need to do washing as didn't get any done yesterday.
Hugs to all those in need especially Lainey and LWW xx
Have a good day all

Morning everyone,
Very misty here today, we are due another really warm one and then storms tonight. It was a hot and sticky night so haven't slept too well.
Am off into Cambridge at lunchtime to have my hair cut and coloured, really looking forward to having it done, my hair is thick and grows out rather than down!
After that will get into the hospital to see Mum, there has been some movement from her care team and we hope to get her home within the next few days. She is adamant that she goes back to the bungalow so that all the care is in place there, the hospice is a definite no.
AOD, enjoy your "me" time
Jackie, have fun in Scotland
LWW, thinking of you during this difficult time
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks x0 -
Good morning everyone,
I left work shortly after 5pm yesterday then took me an hour to get to the gym, enjoyed an hour in the gym then by the time I got home and made my dinner (burritos) I managed to sit down around 9.30ish.
Tonight we've a staff BBQ which is good timing as it'll give me an opportunity to meet other members of staff and strengthen relationships. Also it should mean a NSD!
AoD - Indeed that does sound like a good balance, enjoy!
camelot - Hope you have a lovely meal tonight. Thinking of you.
Jackie - Fantastic on the low grocery spend and I hope you enjoy your trip.
RedRuby - Fingers crossed for you.
Lainey - Happy haircut.0
