O/S Daily Thread Tuesday 13th September

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Another bad night, still I have lots of different things to worry about so at least I don't get bored.

Hugs to those in need, so many with health, family or work worries on here at the moment.

Ongoing work on the nearby railway line woke me at 3am and I haven't been able to get back to sleep, problems at work with inadequate machinery are still ongoing. More engineers will visit today, it's always busy the first couple of weeks of term.

I only cooked for hubby last night I managed without as I knew anything I ate would make a rapid return.

I have washing on the line and hubby's packup is made. I could fall asleep now, but my alarm is about to go off.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's too dark to see what the weather is up to this morning :). Hubby has just gone back to bed as he feels too poorly to go to work again. The colonoscopy went ok, they took five biopsies so we just have to wait for the results now. I am so worried :(.

No sign of the girls yet, I expect there to be a rush in a minute as there is not enough milk for everyone to have cereal due to DD15 glugging it down in milkshakes. Oh well, there is always toast :).

I've been invited to my sister's 40th birthday next month and she is having an 80's theme so I am very excited. I have been on ebay looking for electric blue eyeliner and fluorescent accessories. I am just so happy to be included this time. At least I know the music will be decent :D.

I am just making an easy tea tonight of fishfingers, chips and peas. I know it's a bit nursery food but we all like it. Tomorrow I will make spanish chicken if I remember to get the chicken out to defrost.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning Hester and all,

Another one not sleeping well here, my own doing, wallowing in self pity with Youngest off to Uni on Saturday - we are going to miss him so much, but proud that we have raised him to be such a nice lad and he doesn't seem phased by it at all, though he will miss his mates very much, they mostly have been friends since primary school..

Hester - I don't know how you put up with your work, I would have been fired by now as my mouth goes off before my brain!!!

Hugs to those having a tough time X

I,d better get off to work or I will be late ...

Edit - dumpling sorry, was writing as you posted - hope OH is okay X

    Morning everyone

HH - thanks for starting us off, sounds like you could do with a holiday already! x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, very cloudy and overcast here but air feels warm, it's supposed to be very warm here today, we seem to be having a very cloudy overcast start to the days' then it clears and becomes a sunny dry day - that has happened lots of days through this summer. We'll see.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, but I'll wake him shortly to get ready for college.

Dinner last night was battered fish, chips, beans/veg for DH and DS2 whilst I and DS1 had HM fish pie, beans/veg. I buy a 4 pint bottle of milk every Monday on my way in to work as my contribution to the tea/coffee supplies and whilst there yesterday morning I decided to buy a small sack of potatoes, so had enough to make the fish pie. I was busy when I got home yesterday as I made the fish pie and I also got the meat sauce made and cooked for tonight's lasagne, so all I need to do is make the white sauce and put it all together and shove in the oven, I'll serve that with some potato wedges and side salad. I stripped my bed yesterday morning too, and got the quilt cover and pillow cases in the WM before I left for work, DS2 then put it out on the line, so I then just stripped off the bottom sheet, that's now ready to go out on the line, I remade the bed with fresh sheet and the put a clean quilt cover and pillow cases on, so at least that's done. So was quite busy - I wouldn't want to do that much if we'd had a manic Monday at work though, work was just steady.

I did manage to save a portion of fish pie, so that was chilled in fridge overnight and will now be moved into the freezer, I'm hoping I'll be able to do the same with the lasagne tonight, I'd like to get at least 1 extra portion to put in the freezer.

My mood has been so much better since Friday - keeping busy seems to be a key thing for me, I was a bit fed up when I got home last night and realised after prepping and then cooking food for last night and tonight I'd then got to remake the bed - but by that time the food was prepped and cooking and other than pack ups and serving up the dinner there wasn't anything else that needed doing. Tonight I'll need to make pack ups and construct the lasagne and make wedges and a bowl of salad, so nothing too taxing.

    Keep safe and well x

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

Wet again today, hope those of you with the sunshine enjoy it. It felt so damp and miserable last night I lit the stove - at least the washing dried!

Had a good nights sleep but still feel really tired this morning, hopefully another couple of nights like that and I'll feel good again, my recovery time for a couple of late nights seems to be getting longer!

Hope OH is ok dumpling, so pleased you are looking forward to the party.
Your work sounds as awful as ever HH, it's not good when you worry so much, please look after yourself.
hilstep - you are a very brave lady, I take my hat off to you.
Hugs to those of you with worries.

Must try and visit the garden after work today, just to see if my veggies have floated away!

    Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Thanks for the thread Hester. You sound really down, hope your day gets better xx
Dumpling - I too love the 80s, great theme. Hope you don't have to wait too long for DHs results xx

Got two loads of washing done and dried on the line yesterday. I am a sucker for putting things in the TD but will be resisting it as much as I can to save our pennies. Our car insurance is up for renewal and I have saved us £80 by shopping around, plus £50 cash back (provided it goes through). Dinner was cannelloni and side salad/French beans. Tonight will be breaded haddock from Aldi with French fries, peas and sweet corn, nice and easy.

Hugs to all those in need,
    Coxy

I know how you feel though, we had to claim when mr tru was made redundant when miss tru was two weeks old, first there was the panic then the feeling that we shouldn't claim. Very odd, when you know you're entitled but it all feels wrong x

Finger crossed for your OH dumpling x

Lovely calm day yesterday. Scampi was still a bit tense so we didn't go out the front, we sat by the front window instead and had lessons there :D He stayed sat or led down, growled a bit occasionally (I never tell him off for growling) then stopped and looked at me without me having said a word. We got through lots of treats, lol.

I haven't caught up on my sleep. My brain is alert and wants to get on with things, my body is saying 'nope, can't be bothered' :D I'll just potter about, take my time, sit down when I feel like it and hopefully I'll have got some jobs done by the end of the day.

    Morning everyone,

Thanks for the thread Hester, hope your tum settles down soon x

Hugs Dumpling, hope all is well with OH x

Am popping into work place this morning to do a handover of ledger and hand in pass etc, did text my manager yesterday but haven't had a response, hope he's still there!

Hopefully I won't be there too long, my two Uncles and one of Mum's friends are going into visit this afternoon so am planning to do the evening shift. Poor Mum wasn't so good yesterday, feeling sick etc, we found a wheelchair and took her outside for some fresh air as was very stuffy on the ward but didn't seem to help. The nurses did give her an anti-nausea injection but we had to go shortly after :(
I did manage to get over to see Bill last night, bless him was so hot, his winter coat is coming through but the summer isn't finished yet it seems. I gave him a cool bath and a general tidy up, it was nice to see a couple of the girls and catch up, nice bit of normality in the chaos :o

Better get a wriggle on, have a good day everyone, take care folks x
