  • Morning everyone, it is dry here and meant to be warm.

Yesterday I did just an hour's work, then some much needed cleaning . I've been so busy that it has just been a luck and a promise recently. Saved changing the bedlinen until yesterday as I had so much other washing to do that I wouldn't have been able to get the duvet cover dry.
Then made spaghetti with meatballs, which my husband and son love, with a lovely big salad.

Today I am meeting my oldest and closest friends from university for lunch - although we are in contact all the time, we haven't met up for ages so looking forward to that, and we are being joined by another uni friend, haven't seen him for over 40 years. He became a bank manager but now retired. In fact, everyone is retired, just me carrying on. But I am on holiday this week (mostly) so I am more relaxed, things have been pretty frenetic.
Unfortunately I have to meet them with a puffy face due to this long wait for the dentist but never mind.

My friend at work is having a hysterectomy today, she is already bionic following a double mastectomy, so later in the week or more realistically I will be spending time with her. She has requested cake as the best possible aid to recovery. She can't cook. She makes me bake for her when she's unwell and do craft things as she doesn't do that either. Good job I am so fond of her.

Hope that job searchers will soon be sorted, that the poorly ones will be as well as they can and special thoughts to Hilstep.

    Time for toast I think.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning all.
    Hugs to all in need.
Well DH dad is not looking too good now. Dont know if he will pull though this one.DH is hiding in his man cave but i suppose it is to be expected. All i can do is be there for him when he is ready to come out.
Feeling so tired today. Combination of the pills and a rough night is not good, but have to shake it off and carry on.
DW emptied and bedding in the WM already. (gonna make the most of this sunny weather and having time to get stuff dry.
Dinner tonight will be pulled pork as i am trying to reduce the freezer down so i can do a load of dump meals.
DD just gone off to work with the last of the gingerbread cake and coffee cake so looks like more baking is needed today. I want to pop to the market and get some veggies so will be heading there soon with trusty trolley.
    Anyhoo. best get on.
Have a sunny day all x
    Bright Blessings xx
  • Good morning chums,

Lovely to get back into a routine of checking in each morning and catching up on your hectic lives.

My first day yesterday was great. Lovely colleagues and the job itself doesn't seem too daunting - for now. It takes me much longer now to get to and from work, an extra 45 minutes each way so I may need to change my routines in order to accommodate. After work yesterday I played badminton (very poorly) and signed up to the new credit check thing on here and I got a 999 credit score!!! Very surprised.

After work today I'll go to my new gym, sign up and get started. Coupled with the new job I think a new gym will feel like a fresh start.

Have a lovely day everyone, if you can.

Hester - Hope you feel better today.
Dumpling - My cousins wife had an 80's themed party and everyone got involved, from pensioners to infants and it made for a great night. Dive headfirst I say.
Coxy - Well done on the savings!
Ruby - Hope the scratch isn't too bad. I was picturing a frightening blood bath!
    AOD - Enjoy your day
LWW - Wow, I'm not sure how you manage it all. I take my hat off to you.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, especially Hester and qny poorlies.......I know only too well what its like not to feel good, especially after a couple of sleepless nights.

A load in the washer, we are forecast a very warm day........and I have to take OH for an appointment this afternoon, the car will be like an oven, the air con will be going full blast.

Waiting for the heating engineers to come, anytime between 8.30 and 12.30.......if its after 12.30 we will not be here. I think I am going to have to fight to get the rads put where I want them, we will see. I really do not want all of them under the window, especially in the sitting room, I have long curtains up at the window, I do not want to have to have them shortened, the same with our bedroom, the curtains are long velvet ones. We will see.

The washer has finished so off to hang it out.
  • Morning all

  • Good afternoon chums coffee morning for U3A this morning that it was my turn th host at Dobbies ,good turn out ,more than I expected as its very hot in the south east today, 31c at lunchtime.

My gardener Mick is at my DDs all day today cutting and clearing her garden, I am topping him up with cold drinks as its south facing and there is quite a bit of work to do There are four huge piles of rubbish and foliage so far, plus he took down an old shed that was falling to bits.Hopefully the rubbish clearance chap will come this afternoon and take it all away.

DGS Ben is on his way to Florence for a week with his G/F,almost didn't make it as she had mislaid her passport and it was panic stations for awhile, but they are aboard the plane and have taken off now :)

So hot even DDs dogs are hiding indoors from the heat.
Pub quiz tonight fingers crossed we do as well as last week.

Lots of people had a bad night last night ,hopefully they can perhaps get a snooze in the afternoon.

I have long curtains too and they are in front of the radiator in the living room and bedroom. I really love them floor length so am planning to get nice blinds as well and then leave the curtains open.

It is really hot here so I have trying to pace myself. I made the mistake last night of changing our super king bed which would have been fine but I tried to flip over the mattress by myself!!! After a lot of heaving and huffing and puffing and almost getting trapped underneath, with visions of having to sleep on the floor, I managed to drag the thing back on the bed. Once dd and SIL next visit guess what they will be asked to do?

It seems ridiculous in such hot weather but I find myself wanting to squirrel things away like shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, dish and laundry liquids and cleaning sprays. I even found myself ordering jeans reduced from £39 to £9 so I had new winter clothes. A load of boxes arrived this morning so I have been sorting them all out and storing them neatly in the integral garage and trying to empty the last few moving boxes.

    Hester

Don't let the blighters grind you down.

    Hilstep

I admire your courage and dignity so much and hope you wring every last drop of love and fun as much as you can.

I defrosted some chicken and will make a chicken, mushroom and tomato cous cous dish later that can be portioned and frozen for later.

    coxy

Good wishes for DH's job search.

An eighties themed party sounds lovely.

    Hugs to all

    Afternoon all.

Another late one from me, time is leaking away just now and I seem to be running from one thing to another faster than I thought possible.

I took Mum for her last minute needs this morning and then dropped her off at her hairdressers. My drive home was via Dumbarton (for some new pjs) and then through Helensburgh for a grocery shop. Think I bought way more than is necessary TBH but I won't go again for anything other than milk.

When I arrived home I did a small fast wash for the tops I wore over the weekend and they are hanging out and should be dry. A neighbour dropped in for a cup of tea after a long day planking wood (?) and to show me his pics of a planked tree trunk. It all looked lovely!

I've filled up the bird feeders, put out hazelnuts for the squirrels and chopped up some apple and soft pear for the ground feeding birds and left out some suet ball too.

I've just ordered a portable paper scanner as I'll need it for teaching, I'm not carrying around a flatbed scanner. It's all part of the aim of the paperless portfolio for the students - just more work for me. :o:o

    Now...I'm not doing anything else.
  • We were early for OHs appointment, sat like idiots for over an hour waiting to see the Dr. Got in at 3pm. OH has a growth on his thymus gland, they are pretty sure it is benign........option is to have an op to remove it, neither of us is keen on that idea. He has an appointment to see the cardiologist on Friday, I think they will veto the op. Which means he will have to have regular scans. We will have wait for the outcome of the meeting between all the Drs and surgeons and see what conclusion they come to.

All the laundry dried and has been put away. It has been very hot, the air con in the car was working overtime, have the fan on in the bedroom cooling us down before we settle down to sleep.
