O/S Daily Thread Wednesday 14th Sept

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

HH - thanks for starting us off, it's not surprising you're tired - slow down a bit Mrs!

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, dry, overcast and still very hot and humid. Washing ready to go out on the line.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, but will wake him shortly as he has college today.

Dinner last night was HM lasagne, herby roasted new potatoes and pan fried asparagus, had hoped there would be a portion of lasagne left but it all got eaten, at least none went in the bin. Tonight will be roasted chicken portions, mash, veg and LO's with gravy.

Work yesterday wasn't especially busy but steady and couldn't believe it when I looked at my watch and it was 2.50pm, I thought it was 1pm, so hoping today will go the same. I'm going in for training tomorrow morning, but need to go into town first thing to visit the bank and building society before training. My colleague is picking me up to go to the training as she has to go past my house, so at least it only costs me the time not the petrol.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Outside looks dry, let's hope it lasts. I slept really well back in my own bed again.

Today will be a catching up with paperwork type day though I want to get out for a walk too. There's some parsnips to be turned into soup and some mince to magic into something tasty.

I hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

Speky - pleased to hear you are enjoying your new job, hope it continues.
snoozer - Hope DH is well enough to travel.

No hot weather for us, it's warm but very wet too although (says this quietly) it's not raining here at the moment.

Visited my raised bed yesterday and wow, everything has grown so much, will visit on Saturday to do a bit of weeding. Finished a hot water bottle cover last night and started on another bag. The sewing machine is in DDs room at the window and I spend a lot of time nosing at what's going on outside!

DW emptied and washing on the airer.

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone

It's forecast to be very warm here today which will be nice after all the rain we had yesterday. Hubby has dragged himself off to catch the bus to work and the girls are starting to emerge looking for breakfast. I am feeling a bit flat so will be having a very quiet day today.

I remembered to take some chicken out for tea tonight so I will make a Spanish traybake thing with baby potatoes and peppers etc. I would like to make some flapjack too if I can be motivated as it can bake in the oven at the same time. I am very tired though so we shall see.

I have no visitors now for the rest of the week so I will be catching up on some telly and my knitting. My shoulder feels a lot better so the knitting will be ok now.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to and hugs for those who are going through tough times xx

    Morning all,

Its going to be another scorcher again today which would be lovely if I were not in a kitchen I was melting yesterday and a cold shower has never felt so good ! Off to the other site today which will be quieter and less rushing round so cooler with any luck.

Dinner tonight will be a mixed veg tray bake with some pork chops its all ready in the fridge so will shove it in the oven when I get in, I also need to do a wash of work t shirts and have a clean round.

Right better get on have good days all xx

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Hester. Hoping you have a better day today and feel brighter xx

Very hot here yesterday (DS1 had a driving lesson and car temp said 34 degrees). Set to be warm again today. I got the bathroom and shower room cleaned yesterday - ran out of materials for the cloakroom, so will pick those up today. The towels got washed and are on the line - will TD for 15 mins or so later to soften them.

I have three jobs I've spotted that I will apply for today. One is back in the city in a financial institution - I used to work in the city before having the children. Not sure I'm tough enough to go back (and would need a complete power suit wardrobe) but I am not going to let that stop me from applying. It's all good practice after all. I just love writing a personal statement (not).

Youth clubs start back again tonight and I'm only doing the early one as new folks have come forward for the senior one, thank the Lord. Will have chicken and chorizo pasta for tea first, yum.

Welcome back Speky - hope the holiday was good and glad to hear the new job is going okay X
Snoozer - hope DH is good to travel to Italy X
Gers - nothing like your own bed lol X
Dumpling - we have a milkshake monster in our house too :)

Hope you all have a good day,
    Coxy

  • Morning, I had a great day yesterday, though after wandering about, our university is so changed and I pointed out that our children are all older than most of the students there. Had lunch, Yate red on an on and on...

Today I am going out to do one job which shouldn't really be left until next week, then the rest of the week is my own, lovely, no plans. I need to get ready and go, so hope you all have a good day. Hester I hope your day is easier and brighter today.

    This wretched toothache is horrible.

    Morning everyone,

Beautiful morning here, the sun is coming up through the mist and trees, very atmospheric.
Yesterday was very warm with temps in the low 30's, we got the fan out of the cupboard for the first time this year, both the girls positioned themselves in front of it in the lounge then we had it going in our bedroom all night. Not very OS I know but helped us sleep.

We went to see Mum in the early evening, she was quiet and subdued, also tired despite having a better night. One of the consultants had been to see her and said that the day before had been a bit of a blip??.My brother has spoken to her palliative nurse and we hope to have a meeting tomorrow to discuss what needs to be in place for her to go home. Am beyond worried about it all.

Chores this morning, also need to take little Tilly into the vets for check up/ annual jabs as we didn't make it a fortnight ago.

Snoozer really hope you are all heading off for the wedding.
Speky glad you are enjoying the new job

Have a good day everyone, take care all x

well FIL is no better and the hospital have said it does not look good. DH is still in his man cave but at least he is starting to talk about it.
DW emptied and WM done and on line.
Dinner tonight will be something with chicken, not sure yet.
Yesterday did pulled pork and rice. Mixed lots of veggies in the rice so was a nice combo. Made a large tray of brownies but there is very few left as DD1 and DGD did a surprise visit yesterday, That and DD2 has a few last night with ice-cream for pudding and has squirrelled a few for work today. So need to bake again.
Got docs today to get results from bloods and ECG so hopefully he will sign me fit for work and i can get back to some sort of normality. I know my blood pressure is still high (have a machine at home) but the pains has eased off some.
My neighbour brought me round some blackberries and cooking apples yesterday so might make a crumble later.
    Anyhoo better get on.
Hugs to all in need x
    Bright Blessings xx
