Does anyone buy in bulk for their pantry?
I am moving to a new house in the next few weeks and one of the best things about the house is that it has a huge pantry! I am thinking about doing a huge food shop every 3 months or so, to fill up the pantry with non-perishables like rice/pasta, flour etc and then just doing a fruit and veg shop once a week. Does anyone…

Earplugs to block out noise
I really hate having things in my ear for a few reasons I get really panicky that someone can approach me in my sleep, or even small things like what if someone rings my phone or knocks on my door and I can't hear it and they feel uncomfortable. And the sensory isolation basically means I lose all sense of balance and…

Changing eating habits.
I know I have asked this sort of thing before but its more looking back at old habits, when I first left home I had a bland (even thought so back then) but tolerable diet was basically eat cornflakes (often in water as couldn't afford milk lol) porridge, noodles, pasta with chopped tomatoes, with biscuits/wagon wheels as…

waffles
My son has starting eating waffles for breakfast, I know its not the best breakfast but I struggle to get him to eat anything in the morning so just pleased he is eating something. The problem is the shop brought waffles are 30% sugar:eek: I want to make my own so I can control the amount of sugar. It is necessary to have…

Soap vs Shower gels
Am I right that soap leaves the bath dirtier than using shower gel/liquid soap? I've noticed that when I use soap, it's much harder cleaning the bath. It also takes longer. I've started buying bathroom mousse and various other products to try and make it easier. I don't remember this being a problem when I used shower gel.…

How to get oil off bottom of oven
My oven is fairly new and I have been really good about cleaning it, or at least wiping it round, after each use. OH cooked a roast dinner last week and I didn't realise some of the oil from the Yorkshire pudding tins had spilt onto the oven floor. Needless to say he didn't mention it nor did he clean it up. I switched the…

Do sweet potato fries usually have a coating on them?
Hey guys, A month or so ago we done a taster at the venue we are due to get married at later this year. Some parts were better than others to be honest. One item on our menu was sweet potato fries. When we done the taster, though not bad, the fries weren't crispy and tasted nothing like what we have at a restaurant. My…

Shortcrust pastry with butter
I normally make my shortcrust pastry with a 60/40 ratio of hard margarine and lard to 200 grams plain flour and approx 4 Tbs cold water Over this past few days I've been trying to work with butter and lard in the same proportions, and in the same way as with my usual dough, but I'm finding that the butter dough tears very…

Freezing a homemade pie
Hi I have made and cooked a chicken, leek and bacon plate pie that is not going to be needed. Will it freeze? If so should I freeze it as it is on the enamel plate or freeze it in portions? What about reheating it? I dont want to waste it, we could eat it cold but I would quite like to freeze it if thats possible.

Any clue what to do with a tin of pickled mussels?
I love fish, especially things like prawns and mussels and bought a tin of this by a Spanish company called Isabel in Tesco. Any clue what to do with this, as I am looking at ways to improve my diet and lose a couple of pounds?
