Prepping now we are OUT
OK so now we are out of the EU ( or will be shortly) What prepping will you do? What should we do? I'm trying to stay on track, with always having, extra pet & human food, stock of loo rolls. Bottled water. Candles, torches. Cash hidden, money spread over more than bank. Trying my best to buy British. :j

Old sweat stains on mattress - Help!!
My partner sweats rather a lot in bed, and in spite of a mattress protector and another sheet, plus the usual fitted bottom sheet there are large and unsightly stains on the mattress. I am at a loss as to how to deal with this and remove them without damaging the mattress or making it "look" like I've tried to clean them…

Fermented Apple Puree - usable?
I was given a large jar of apple puree early winter and just opened it to find it has fermented. It tastes great but probably not right for the tart I'm making and I thought I'd check if it's safe to eat?? I can't find much information online, only how to make it using yeast cultures. Could it be bad bacteria in there?…

Hay fever
Apologies if you already know this, but I am so pleased and amazed that I want to pass this on . My elder grandson, who is 10, has always suffered terribly with hay fever. The worst thing was his eyes which would get really sore and itchy. I heard last year that local honey is supposed to be good for hay fever so I bought…

Meal planning
I've had some really wonderful advice from this site recently so hope that someone can help me again now. After facing up to my debt, being constantly rejected from job applications and watching the amount of money in my bank decline, I'm feeling a bit lost. I'm trying to keep going but I think it's finally time to admit…

Getting my hoover filter dry?
A few weeks back my hoover failed to work, just didn't pick up and it ended up being the filter was damp despite me letting it dry overnight. What I mean is if I rinse or soak it and shake out the water so at most maybe a few drips in it the actual paper part still feels damp even if left out for a day or two so the…

Chazzers - do you budget?
I know many of OSers have to watch the pennies and budget carefully. I'm usually restrained in shops as I don't need more stuff to ...unless it's the chazzer. At which point all bets are off! I still look at the price of individual items and assess whether they are worth it to me, but I don't watch my overall expenditure…

Udon noodles
I had four packs of these free with a newspaper in my local Tesco, with a best before date of 25.6.16 The date does not bother me, have eaten food well past its best before date and still here to tell the tale. I have used one pack for a stir fry, but could do with some other ideas. I quite fancy making a soup, but when I…

3 weeks to pay day....
3 weeks until pay day for me. It's a 5 week month and already my budget is shot to pieces! Not helped by the fact that I was paid around £300 less last month due to job changes and me starting part way through the pay period. But I also had to put 2 new tyres on my car last week, I knew they were low but was hoping they'd…
