O/S Daily Thread for Friday 24th June

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
NMLC, how scary, I hope you are ok now.
I hope Lame Wolf is ok, not seen her post for a while, but I think she is away on holiday.
I didn't get chance to post yesterday, hubby went for an interview but didn't get the job, very disappointed, but there really is very little point trying now he is over 60. The problems at work are getting worse for a lot of the staff but especially us older ones. Many of us had our hours reduced and so lost money.
We are still decluttering with a view to downsizing, but don't know where too yet. We have friends who have moved into an RV but they live in an area where there are lots of sites to stay.
I have DGS's uniform drying on the maiden ready for the morning, I'm collecting DGD after school today so she can stay over.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks for the thread HH. I'm sorry that your OH wasn't successful, it's difficult out there. I'm sure there'll be more opportunities for him.
Woke to learn that we're probably going to 'leave'. I imagine it'll take many years before it actually happens. My first thought was 'blooming heck I just got a new passport in January!' :rotfl:
Yesterday we had lovely sunshine, today it's dull grey and wet. At least I got washing dried yesterday.
I've got a fasting blood test this morning, followed by an ECG. Then I'm taking the car to get a new dashcam installed. My last car had one and it was very useful and I miss the security of it. Not sure if the mechanics have done a hard wiring before though they seemed pretty confident.
Now not going to Glasgow, Mum said she's got enough shopping in. She's taken to walking to het local shop most days to get some fresh air. The physios gave her some strength and balance exercises which seem to be working so she's delighted as am I.
I've got one ripe strawberry to eat. Do I smother it in cream or eat it naked? It's my first home grown fruit so I'm excited, others are still ripening, it'll be difficult without much sun.
Happy Friday everyone.0 -
Morning all. News of the Leave win has saddened me, it's not the decision I was hoping for but let's hope it was the right decision for our country after all and I was wrong! Time will tell!
We have another day of sunshine in store but I have too many jobs in store to be out enjoying it! Yesterday's hospital appointment (don't even ask!) was a nightmare and I was waiting an hour and a half to be seen. That meant we didn't have time to go shopping between that and DGDs concert in the afternoon and their swimming club in the evening after all. So that's to do this afternoon, scuppering my gardening plans!
Mr TA has his Liverpool blood tests this morning, followed by an eye test at B**ts. I am going to enjoy the Friday clean in peace playing with my new GTech stuff!
Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning, my OH has stayed up all night to watch the referendum results coming in so he'll be tired and grumpalicious later. I'm concerned about the result, that's an understatement.
Washing on the line, jobs waiting to be done.
Yesterday I took what I thought was going to be a good picture of a peacock but the sun was in my eyes so got half a peacock. And the picture of a gorgeous tree filled skyline is missing entirely.
Gers, eat it by itself!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Woke up to rain this morning - typical, I watered the garden last night! At least the washing was dried outside yesterday. Only a few bits of ironing so that can wait.
Sorry DH didn't get the job HH, something will come along I'm sure.
We have our staff lunch today, I am taking a big bowl of strawberries, cream, yogurt and some hm ginger shortcake biscuits. I'm keeping the homegrown strawberries for myself - naked is the way to go Gers (probably as I don't like cream!).
Getting a bit fed up of the in-house politics at the hospice, makes my shift a little more difficult trying to keep my views to myself. I'm not there for a few weeks what with holidays so hopefully it will sort itself out.
Hope you are recovering nmlc, that sounds scary.
Happy Friday! Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off x
Thanks everyone for the good wishes, I'm feeling much better, not 100% but on the mend.
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, bright clear with sunshine, load of washing ready to go on the line.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and gone to work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was spag bol, tonight I'm not sure as it's DS2's prom and I'll be taxi at some point.
I have loads to do today, so will just potter along and do what I can at my pace.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
I see we voted to leave then, tbh Im not surprised as everyone I have spoken to has said they were voting leave !
I heard yesterday I did not get the jobI am a bit disappointed but can understand as I have not had five years experience, they said I did really well at interview and everything else was perfect and that they would like me to learn from the new lady and get my experience that way, in a way I am relieved as it will take a lot of the stress away, they have offered me the deputy manager job as well so all good :T
Take away tonight and wine  looking forward to that after a long week, the housework can wait till tomorrow.
Have good days all xx
Gers eat it naked !!!!!! the strawberry not you !!!
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday to MeanMarie xxxx0 -
I've been up most of the night. I'm worried, DS and fiance are now afraid they will have to cancel their wedding in Italy unless the pound recovers.
I'm afraid that both my children will choose to emigrate.0 -
Sorry you didn't get the job RR but Deputy Manager is brilliant, well done you!
Happy Birthday Mean Marie! :bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:0 -
Morning everyone,
HH - sorry to hear DH didn't get the job. I don't know what line of work he is in but has he thought about school caretaker or the like? My friends Dad did this after he got made redundant aged 58. The schools would probably be advertising about now as it's the last term of the year.
Nmlc - glad you are on the mend, so worrying for you.
Deleted_User - that's really annoying about the carpet
Not too busy at the charity yesterday but had reports that the church foyer had flooded due to the overnight rain. Luckily not enough to close the polling station. I will need to call in contractors today to look at the roof and drains - living the dream!
DH and I went to the local theatre last night for a Queen tribute called a Killer Queen. They were excellent and just what we needed to lift our mood. The trains were messed up due to the rain, so we didn't get home until 11pm then stayed up to watch the referendum until 2am. Feeling jaded now!
As DH took himself off to Aldi yesterday and survived (!) I am hoping the ever increasing ironing pile might get done whilst I'm at work. Wishful thinking lol!.?
Have a good day everyone,
