Getting my hoover filter dry?

A few weeks back my hoover failed to work, just didn't pick up and it ended up being the filter was damp despite me letting it dry overnight.

What I mean is if I rinse or soak it and shake out the water so at most maybe a few drips in it the actual paper part still feels damp even if left out for a day or two so the suction isn't as good as it should be.

I have a very dusty flat so the hoover can get a huge amount of dust in it hence me wanting to wash filter often.

Is there a easy way bar leaving it outside on the balcony to get it to dry quick?

I think it will depend on the type of hover you have. We have a Dyson and a good shake normally does the trick. They are not expensive so We just tend to replace them when needed.

When I do mine I dry it as much as I can then stick it into the airing cupboard on the top shelf to dry off for a day or so, but I guess it helps that my gas boiler is in the cupboard along with my hot tank

We've got a Gtech, the filters take so long to dry I have a second set and rotate them.

  • If it's the Hoover Whirlwind like mine, and it's the circular concertina filter that fits inside the dust holder, then I agree they do take a long time to dry. I have found they dry much quicker if I leave them in the airing cupboard overnight.

I have just replaced mine with a GTech so the Hoover is going to live at the caravan where hopefully the filters shouldn't need washing as much!

My Gtech came with a second set of filters so I assume they do take a while to dry. I'd forgive Gtech almost anything as the vacuum has transformed my housekeeping enthusiasm!

Put it inside a pair of tights, grip tight and whirl it hard/fast round your head outside..... that'll get most of the wet out, giving it a better chance of drying before you want it again.

They must have started doing that since we bought ours as we had to buy a spare set.

I must admit the floors get more of a going over then they did with the old Dyson. I bought the one for the stairs in the hope I'd get a bit more enthusiastic about doing them - I haven't. I think it's because our one you have to hold the on switch on which is quite wearing to female hands, later models they've changed it so you don't have to do this.

Yes, mine has an on / off switch. I also got the handheld model which I use for the stairs as it's so easy - again with an on / off switch. Stairs never been so clean! On good days I have the front door open most of the time so they get more muck than normal.
