I have a gammon steak, which is very thick, It will not cook properly either in the frying pan or under the grill, I was wondering about roasting it in the oven.
Any suggestions??

Bring it round my place lass, I'll add a pineapple ring ad a fried egg to it no problem!
Actually use medium grill, cook for around twenty five to thirty minutes. Turning after ten minutes.0 -
The problem with a thick steak that needs cooking through properly is that it can dry out on the outside. This is a particular problem for gammon which has a tendency to be dry.
Personally (and if Blackbeard ever wants to cook a gammon steak for me, I would happily try his method) I would do the following:
If you have a grill that is part of an oven, heat to highest setting, cook for 5-7 minutes each side (until turning brown) then switch off, close door, and leave to cook in residual heat for 15-20 minutes.
Otherwise, I might heat a pan very high, cook for 4-5 mins each side, then add a sauce or liquid of some sort and finish cooking like that.
I have a meat thermometer that I use a lot in situations like this.0
