This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone.

A new dawn has brought a lovely blue sky and the bull bellowing all night!

I did so much yesterday that I eventually sat down at 6pm'ish, poured a glass of wine and then a neighbour called in.

Today 'I just don't feel like doing anything' (Bruno Mars) apart from sending a couple of bits and pieces to number one nephew.

My shiny new dash cam is just brilliant, I'm so happy with it, great colour, wide vision, great audio and with GPS co-ordinates and speed. Sometimes I choose well.

My naked strawberry was so delicious, thanks for the advice. And yes, TA, there are a couple not far behind in the ripening stage.

My thumb is almost completely healed. Ditto with my nasal problem. Tests done. Apart from looking too darkly into the future all's well here.

    Happy Saturday everyone.

    Morning All

Showery here this morning, the washing can wait.

I was going to do some housework last night but heard that neighbour had got a job. Took her some flowers and choccies and she was having a G&T to celebrate so I joined her. Friend and neighbour across the road joined us, one G&T turned into a few and the next thing I knew I was a bit wobbly, hadn't had any tea and fell asleep when I got home (this all started about 5pm!). I woke up at 10 and went to bed - enjoyed myself and the chat but it was a bit of a wasted evening workwise.

Off to Glasgow this morning with a friend for a mooch about, will call in to see DD at work and maybe get a bit of lunch.

Nothing else planned for the weekend, hope you have a good one. Take care. XX

Good morning and thank you for the thread Gers.

Yesterday felt very strange, now am feeling rather confused about what changes may come. Facebook has gone rather political and polarised - too much anger and bitterness for me at present.

OH has just got up and showered, he'll go shopping soon. We switch between Morr*sons and T*so according to vouchers and promotions. Sainsb*rs is further away and also, for some reason unknown to mortal mind, he seems to have taken a scunner to them.

Dull here with some spotty rain so not sure what to do about the sheets, wait and see I think.

I missed meanmarie's birthday, hope you had a happy day. Congratulations to those who have new jobs and commiserations to those who haven't but hoped to.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bright and dry morning here. The forecast is for sunshine with the odd shower so hubby is planning a long walk with Max.

The girls are still in bed but I will be getting them up at 9am as I have a big Asda shop coming. I have promised them a super-duper breakfast so once it is delivered I will be making bacon sarnies, croissants, cinnamon rolls etc with lots of orange juice and tea/coffee.

Hubby is in charge of cooking after that so he will be cooking sausage beans and mash for tea. I have a gammon joint in the freezer from Christmas to roast for tomorrow as well.

I hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Hi guys
Was going to start the thread, but don't know how to copy and paste on my iPad!:rotfl:
    Blue sky here.
Had a scare yesterday. Woke at 4am and couldn't breathe properly. OH Got me back to bed, and fell asleep. At 7am I still couldn't. OH phoned the hospice they said call 999. Paramedics turned up. Put me on oxygen for an hour. I was a lot better afterwards. Gave me a fright though. Seeing my consultant on Tuesday so I will ask if I can have oxygen at home. Don't want to be calling 999 every time I can't breathe. :(

Still, if I am up to it we are going to the fish festival in Hastings Old Town today and Armed forces day tomorrow.

    Enjoy today guys!

    Morning everyone,

Bright and sunny here, lifts the spirits to wake up to such a morning.

Yesterday didn't quite go as planned, Tilly come back from the morning walk and was obviously worrying at one of her ears. Recognised the signs and took her straight down to the vets, yep grass seed stuck deep inside one :( They are so dangerous to get out as just behind the ear canal is the brain so left her at the vets to be sedated and it taken out. With recovery and everything didn't pick her up until 4.30 but apart from being a bit sleepy all was ok, they gave me the seed in a little phial as a memento!
We still went into the Cambridge fridge freezer shopping, more to keep mind occupied than anything. Ordered the one we wanted and it's being delivered on Thursday, have kept freezer stocks low lately as aware that the current one was on last legs so not much left in there to eat. We went for a A+++ one which was a bit more expensive but hopefully be far more economical to run.
Today just need to catch up on some chores, everytime DOH says he will cut the grass it rains so very long at the moment but fingers crossed will get done today.
  • Morning all. A nice quiet start here with the sun shining intermittently.

After non-stop coverage of the referendum we are back to football again today to dominate our viewing. I counted up last night how many games Mr TA has watched since the Euros started and it's 36!!!! That means I have had to sit through most of them too! Some I have watched and some I have read/dozed through! Now we are at the knockouts it gets a bit more exciting!

DD's bf is still in France awaiting Monday's game. They moved from St Etienne on Tuesday to just outside Nice and were lucky to get rooms in a cheapish hostal with a pool. The weather much improved from the north so this is like a mini holiday for them. We are all quite envious! They are hoping the exchange rate doesn't plummet and scupper their budget.

We have decided to go to the caravan today for a few days but we need to be home for DGD's sleepovers and school runs by Wednesday afternoon. I have a pan of curry on the go to take with us for tonight (and hopefully a bit left for tomorrow) I'll have a freezer rummage later and decide what else to take with us. Just a few clothes to pack and then we can be away. We need more birdie supplies over there too. It costs a small fortune, we have so many feathered friends visiting our feeders there!

We were both feeling sorry for ourselves yesterday, sneezing, coughing and peffing all day. Middle DGD has passed her cold on to us! It kept me awake most of the night and I feel below par this morning.

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and hope the poorlies soon feel better. Take care xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone into work to help his boss out for a few hours this morning. Both boys still in their pits.

Bright and sunny here this morning, load in machine will peg it out shortly.

Dinner last night was a disjointed one, both boys had pizza and chips early, due to DS2 going to his prom, he looked very gorgeous. I had salmon en croute, jacket potato and veg. DH and chicken topped with cheese and with a sauce, chips and peas. Today I've planned a naughty full english, not sure when we will be eating that - either lunchtime or early evening/late afternoon.

Wasn't overly productive yesterday but did get a few jobs done, just need to take it steady. I do have quite a ironing pile, will see how I go and if I can tackle some of it, then I'll be happy.

    Keep safe and well x

DGD stayed last night, got up at 5:30, we played Go Fish for an hour, then DD 1 phoned, can I go to hers at 10:30 to look after her 4 children for while she and hubby look at a house. OK, so we will take one DGD with us to look after 2 x 2year olds and her 10 and 11 year old. Next DGD's daddy phones, his 12 year old has a football tournament could we take an extra 18 month old with us!
I cant see me getting much else done today, but it will be fun.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

Good Morning all the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the world keeps turning :)
Let the dust settle for the past couple of days and lets all get stuck in together as a United country.

Today I am off to the library after my morning walk then home for lunch of HM soup and crackers and cheese.Dinner tonight will be a cheese salad and this afternoon I may do a bit of ironing, plus some knitting .Much the same sort of day as last week really.

Thursdays referendum hasn't as yet caused major earthquakes in my life just yet.
Perhaps a sense or perspective is needed instead of the hysterical outpourings on TV.Lets just 'Keep Calm And Carry On' as we Brits do so well in times of turmoil

Hope you all have a good day and Wimbledon starts on Monday so its strawberries all round chums with lots of fresh cream :):):):)

A bit of brightness in all the doom and gloom

    Cheers JackieO xxx
