Am I right that soap leaves the bath dirtier than using shower gel/liquid soap? I've noticed that when I use soap, it's much harder cleaning the bath. It also takes longer. I've started buying bathroom mousse and various other products to try and make it easier.
I don't remember this being a problem when I used shower gel. Has anyone else found this or am I just imagining it?
It's not really money saving to swap to soap if I have to buy extra cleaning products to clean it off.

Yes I definitely find that soap really does leave more of a residue than shower gels. I use soda crystals to clean my bath as I have an over the bath shower. It is a great cleaning product and really cuts through grease/dirt easily. Just make sure you rinse well as it can be a bit slippery. I find Soda crystals is the only thing that cuts through stuck on grease really efficiently and makes for an easy cleaning job It's great for all types of cleaning jobs around the home and I find I only use this now for most of my cleaning and for 89p from Home b***ains for a large bag it goes a long way.0

Soap leaves a grubbier mark on the bath, bath oils leave it lethal treacherous slippery & showergel is overrated even in the shower. [My opinion.]
I *like* suds & loohfahs & long handled brushes & making the whole room echo as I sing, not just a cubicle.
Which is why my family collude in leaving things in the bath so I have to have showers instead.0 -

Well yes, it would be cleaner, wouldn't it? Shower gel is made from the detergents we clean the bath with.0 -

Is it?!! I thought they'd be much the same these days.
I do think the soap cleans me better, which is great, but it made me think it must be harsher than shower gel.
tulip12, how do I use the soda crystals? Do I just mix them with water?0 -

I just sprinkle a little of them onto my wet bath and wipe over, it leaves the bath tub gleaming and shiny. You can also feel that the surface of the bath tub is smooth and clean to the touch and no soap residue left at all. I wish 'd have found this product 20 years ago lol. I keep my soda crystals in those small plastic milk bottles with handles for easy use. I keep them in kitchen bathroom etc. I also have a spray bottle with some of them mixed with water for stainless sinks kettles and surfaces it brings them up lovely, just buff them over with a soft cloth. I don't think I've noticed a particular difference with either really. But I can tell you, Aldi Creme Bath is lovely smelling and really soft and smooth but leaves the bath mud brown :eek:0

I think soap cleans better too, and i think it is generally considered less harsh than shower gel, but unless you are sensitive to it i dont suppose it makes a difference.
Soap is better value though. I can make an awful lot of handwashes from a cheap bottle of washing up liquid or one bar of soap.0 -

I think soap cleans better than shower gels, but shower gels are nicer to use & don't leave scum in the bath.
I use Australia Bodycare shower gel, makes me feel zesty clean.0 -
Since the soap seems to clean better than shower gel, I'm wondering if the 'scum' it leaves is from me?
Is it just a byproduct of the soap (hopefully!) or is it 'body oils' or something like that?
I agree that shower gels are nicer to use. There's more variety too, with such lovely smells.0
