O/S Daily Thursday 30th June 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now light, light cloud and sun is shining.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was ravoli/tortellini in sauce and breaded chicken portion for the menfolk. I remembered to get the pork steaks out of the freezer and put them in the fridge – but then forgot to get them out of the fridge to defrost, so they are out now and if they defrost we’ll be eating them if not – I’ll have to think of something else. We’ll be having some HG new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and gravy – I’ll be having steamed kale as an extra veg with mine.

I’ll be heading into town shortly as I have a nail appointment first thing, I’ll then be visiting the building society and bank, then home to crack on with as many jobs as I can get done, I’ll be putting the WM on in a moment so I can get a load out on the line before I go out – there isn’t much so hopefully I can get it all line dried today. Housework needs doing and I want to be able to get packed either today or tomorrow, so plenty to be getting on with.

Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It is a bit dull and damp here this morning. Hubby has gone off to work and the girls are getting their breakfasts. I am struggling to stay awake as I had a rotten night's sleep again.

My eldest DD has her hen night on Saturday and every single one of her aunties and cousins have dropped out of coming. It was only going to be a meal out in the evening then anyone who wanted too can go for a drink around the town , nothing wild or anything. I am so cross with my family, luckily my DD has lots of friends who will come and celebrate with her.

I hope my CMHT lady comes to see me today as she has missed the last couple of appointments and I need to talk to her. I think my friend Rose is coming to see me as well. I am loving having DD16 at home, she is really good company even if I am learning more about anime than I would have thought necessary :D.

I haven't a clue what to make for dinner, I think I have some chicken breasts in the freezer so I will probably do something with those.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Good morning everyone.

    Damp and dull here.

Yesterday I got excited about my new feather duster, now I'm worried about where to keep it. It's not going in the barn as the mice or birds will steal the ostrich feathers so I'll need to rearrange the utility room a wee bit.

This morning I've got an IT teaching session and then I'm going down to Glasgow to visit my Mum until Saturday. I don't need to take much though I have to go over to Costco for a couple of things for her.

I hope everyone has a happy Thursday.

    Morning everyone,

Bright and sunny here, can't believe its the 30th June already, just about half way through the year!

Just helped OH take the old freezer outside, fridge will be emptied nearer the delivery time and packed into cool bag, can't believe how excited I am about a new appliance, mind haven't had that many thinking back on it. Am most excited about filling the wine rack :)

Other than that, not much else planned, still chasing our farrier to come out and do Bill's feet, he is a terror for dragging his feet pardon the pun but my boy is desperate for a trim, think will need to get someone else out. The lady who has offered me a part share in her pony as said will need to pay almost double what is the standard norm so think that's a no :( Tbh he is smaller than I would like anyway and she offered in the first place so wonder if she is struggle financially with having the two? Anyways, first priority is getting MY lad sorted.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Grey and wet here this morning, seems to be the norm at the moment.

First day of the holidays today, I have lots to do before heading up north tomorrow. First stop will be to get my eyebrows waxed, they have got out of control!

Lots of washing to do but only have one rack, may have to invest in another.

    Good luck to DD RR.

Must get moving, have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning!

It's drizzling here - just put on a load of washing, so will have DH sort that into TDryer and airer whilst I'm at work. He has a JSA appointment this afternoon and its zone 4 of HW today - ds2 bedroom (which he will do after school), the spare room and the shower room.

I am off to the gym shortly then onto the charity. I need to shop for snacks to take to York tomorrow. Will pack when I get home then have I have a church fundraising meeting tonight. It's all go.

DS1 did some studying for his theory test last night. It is postponed until August so he stands a better chance. He has also asked for extra shifts at the cafe where he works, so some small positives this week after the gloom of last week.

    Have a good day all,

    Good morning everyone,

After work yesterday I eventually went to the gym with my friend after he woke from his evening nap(!). Got home in time to watch some good TV and still have a relatively early night.

Up this morning for the gym. Booked a spin class for 6.45 but I was a bit late and when I arrived and looked through the glass it looked like the started so I just done my own thing but that'll be a mark on my record. Damn. Might manage a little jog at lunch today and when I get home I've got a YNAB webinar at 6 and my friends coming over.

    Have a nice day everyone.
  • Morning all. A glorious start here with the sun blazing in. Sadly it's now clouded in but no rain is forecast. I have a mountain of washing to peg out so I hope they haven't got it wrong!!

We got back from our 5 day break at the 'van after a mixed bag of weather. Some fine bright days and two with torrential rain! Just got back in time yesterday afternoon for the 3DGDs descending for tea and sleepover. This morning has been chaotic and it was a relief to shove them all out and into the car. They are back again tonight after swimming/diving clubs and have requested a huge pasta bake as they are always starving after the exercise. DD's bf joining us too. He got back from his 3 week football break in France last night, swearing he is NEVER going to spend money on supporting England again after Monday's dire performance!

Shopping to do this morning. A quick pop-in to Sainsbobs for odd bits, followed by a bigger shop at Aldi, as usual. Very low on fruit/veg/dairy so that's a priority. Sensible eating is now called for after nearly a week of eating anything and everything not nailed down - a See-Food Diet!

Have a good day all and take care with ((((HUGS)))) to anyone needing them xx

Morning, not raining (yet) so have put washing out, in the hope of drying it a bit at least.

I'm off to the chiropodist in a bit, then have some work to do, not much I hope.

Kitchen and bathroom scrubbed yesterday, and windows done.

No idea what to cook, possibly pasta.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

Very bright morning, bbut the sun keeps coming and going. The wind has dropped a bit, it was really stron gusts yesterday afternoon.

Quilting group today, so I have to gird my loins and get the stuff into the car. A quick demo to start and then on to the bags for cutting boards mark 2.

The grass is too wet to cut, so the mower will have to wait to be unpacked, OH is going out to rearrange the shed to get it in. it is quite a bit bigger than the hover mower.

I need to prep a salad for supper, I am always very tired when I get home after the class so tonight is bacon fritatta and salad. I will cook the bacon then all I have to do is whisk the eggs a bit and chuck the lot into the oven. The last of the straweberries for dessert with some ice cream.

We need to do a freezer audit over the weekend and a menu and shopping list for Aldi sometime next week, possibly Thursday when its market day in Bingham.
