Good morning chums, dry here but overcast, where oh where is our summer?.Normally the shops are stuffed full locally with fresh fruit, strawberries especially, and the farms are welcoming PYO folk, but no signs yet of that happening

Our local MrT only has imported strawberries, and I'm not keen on those, I would rather have locally grown in Kent stuff if I can (carbon footprint, plus helping our growers)

Maybe July will brighten us all up a bit.far too much doom and gloom around, and the sunshine always cheer people up.

DGS Ben is catching a coach back to Norwich tomorrow, as he has to pick up his keys for his new student house, plus he has a months part-time work there, which will pay his rent for August as his grant never arrives until September.

He will be back at the end of July though as we all go on our family summer holiday trip to the Isle of Wight on the 12th August.

Had a nice day yesterday I went to see my sis-in-law in Bromley, and we had a good catch up. Dreadful traffic coming home, and my normal 50 minute journey was almost double that.
Today DGS Henry is off on a school trip to see the Harry Potter Experience , the boys who have achieved the best in the year with overall work get picked to go (not paid for, as the bank of Mum and Dad have to fork out £35 for the children, but he has been looking forward to it and he deserved to go as he really does work hard to get good marks.

I need to catch up on a few odd jobs indoors today as I was out all day yesterday, but it won't take long, and then I can feet up and fingers crossed watch some tennis and do a bit of knitting (I like to multi-task :):))

Hope you all have a great day, and tomorrow will be a new month.I managed to save around £18 odd from my food purse and that will go into my Race for Life fund and my friend said she will double what I have saved as well. Every little helps :), and although I haven't quite managed to empty one of the food cupboards, the top two shelves are alomost clear. So I will be carrying on eating from the cupboards as much as possible next month Only 6 weeks until our holidays :):):)
    Cheers chums

    Morning all

I'm tentatively rejoining the OS daily thread if that's ok? I used to post daily a few years back but then real life (boyfriend, his 2 kids who live with us, new house, 2 cats and new jobs for both of us) got in the way and I stopped, I do know some of you in real life though so have kept in touch that way .

Anyway, today is the first day of my maternity leave so I thought I'd try posting again as I theoretically have more time! Baby is due 26th July :D.

I have kept up some of the OS ways, and hope to rediscover some more now I'm off work. I have done a big supermarket online shop for everyday supplies that we will need over the weeks when baby comes and it is all a blur, to save us having to nip out cos we've run out of loo roll! This is due to come on Tuesday and it will all be stored in the garage out of the way.

I also plan on batch cooking some meals/sauces for those first few weeks, and may well need some help with that as I'm veggie but the other 3 are meat eaters so need to try cook some meat dishes without killing them :rotfl:. We are lucky enough to have a spare fridge freezer in the garage which came from my late grandma's house so I can stock that with meals etc.

Right now the house is a mess :o as we just haven't had time to sort it all out and tidy the last couple of weeks due to working, tiredness and various things we've had on in evenings. So that is top of the list to get sorted over the weekend. We need to finish off the nursery this weekend too.

One other OS task I have to do is make new cushion covers for the nursing chair and stool that I bought second hand. I recovered an ottoman recently in the same material so hoping this works!

Anyway, as today is my first day off I'm going to have a pedicure, do a spot of baby clothes shopping and relax. I have put WM on, tidied kitchen and later on will sort the giant laundry pile out!

Have a good day all x

Had fruit for breakfast and planning a crustless quiche or omelette for lunch with a gammon steak and veg for dinner or else make a chicken stir fry with noodles and freeze some in containers .

Builders are reflooring the rest of the hall and making a start on doing the same to the conservatory later today. I got my AF delivery so have lots of stock cubes, noodles, cooking sauces etc.

Older dd came down last night and drove me to slimming club. I have had a week of my new kitchen and been better able to cook healthier so was hoping to have lost a couple of pounds rather than putting it on as I have been doing for the last few weeks. I lost six pounds so want to keep up the momentum.

I am so sorry your daughter was let down by relatives but it may have been a blessing in disguise as now she will be surrounded by people who really want to be there for her.

    Hugs to all

    Good morning everyone,

Seems a bit brighter today ,not raining but still cool.I had a fleece blanket over me watching TV last night- ridiculous!

Welcome back Flutterby,I do remember you posting.Sounds like you've had a lot of changes going on in your life & more to come with a new baby on the way, congratulations & I wish you all the best with it x

Went out with the hound earlier than normal and remembered why I usually leave it till after school start times, its too busy.Banging and crashing next door, think theyre getting ready for the new kitchen.Still,I'll miss some of the noise as I'm off to my volunteer session at school this afternoon.Missed last week as they were shut for the referendum.Must check when they break up,only about 3 weeks left now.

Didnt make many new cards yesterday but sorted one for SisIL and tidied all my materials.I want to try a stamp I got off a magazine cover next, looks like it might be quite pretty,it's a bird in a flowery china tea cup :D Had to get it tidied away before DGD arrived, she can use £s worth of stuff if I dont control it :rotfl:My niece (12) used to be the same on visits when she was younger but she likes cardmaking now too so I suppose it was worth it.In the end DGD didnt have any tea and DS took her swimming so it was a fleeting visit.

I think we'll have beef stew tonight from the freezer, its usually around the time DH gets back by the time I'm home from school on a Thursday so need something quick.
Hope you all have a lovely day, take care x

    Afternoon all
Just got in from work and filled up the WM and set it going, mostly DGS's uniform for next week..
Hubby needs collecting at 4 so I may rest my eyes for a few minutes, sausage and mash for tea so nice and easy, then I need to iron a pink shirt for hubby to wear.

    Have a good day everyone.

Hi flutterby. I remember you well. I hesitate to welcome you back because I often read but rarely post here these days and it would be a bit presumptuous.

Wonderful news about the baby.I know why you've come back here. It's all these virtual aunties (and an uncle or two) that will chew your ears off with great advice and hints and tips. Hope all goes well. Not long now!!
