O/S Daily Monday 27th June 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work early, DS1 up and gone to work. DS2 still in his pit, but he has last exam this morning, so will wake him shortly.

Now light overcast, dreich and dreary here, wet underfoot as it's been raining during the night, looks like we're going to get some more today.

Lunch yesterday was the roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, kale, yorkshires and gravy - it was a bit late and as I was getting ready to dish up the outlaws arrived unannounced, I offered them a meal expecting them to say no but of course they didn't, so everything got eaten, so no LO's for this week's meals. They said they we on their way home from somewhere else but that was in the completely wrong direction and they were saying stuff, so something's going on, we'll find out soon enough, if I can be bothered to pay any attention! You just get a bit tired of all the drama and toxic people saying and doing things, and trying to play one person off against another.

Yesterday morning when we got up, I went to check on DS2 and I couldn't get his bedroom door open, he was awake and talking to me and said his door was jammed, he didn't seem in the least bit bothered, he had his tablet, phone and play station in there. DH tried to open the door so did DS1, so they took the handle off, and still couldn't open it and were on the verge of trying to kick the door down - but then managed to get it open, the mechanism inside the barrel had broken, so DH and I went to the big diy store and got a replacement, which he put straight back into the door when we got home, hence why lunch was late.

I have a days' holiday today that was booked as we were going away for the weekend, but had to cancel, so will need to tackle the ironing pile, will just do it gradually. I want to also do a bit of cooking, the apples didn't get made into crumble, so I'll do that, and also want to prep food for tomorrow night's dinner as hairdresser is coming and I don't know how tired I'll be after being at work all day. I'm only working all day Tuesday and Wednesday, then I'm off for annual leave and can get some proper rest etc. I need to organise some dinner for tonight not sure what we'll be having but have quite a few options, so will no doubt find something.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Sunshine and cloud this morning, after a lovely morning yesterday it turned very wet and miserable all afternoon and evening. Some washing was dry but the rest is on the airers.

Lots of housework done yesterday, the kitchen is sparkling. Only thing I still need to do is mop the floors.

Short week at work, we finish for the summer on Wednesday at 1pm. Sports day today so hope the weather stays fine.

Hope you all have a good week. Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Dull and overcast here and meant to be the same most of the week I think, yesterday was nice up till tea time then the heavens opened, got the washing mainly dry outside though.

Off to work today I don't think it will be busy as the weather is bad but we will see. Something with mince for dinner DD has the day off as she has a driving lesson so she can cook, it will probably be chilli as we have not had that for a while.

I got my Lilly's in yesterday I hope they take as it will look lovely if they do, I took two up to mums too, her garden looks lovely atm, she has a gardener who comes once a week to do the heavy stuff and she will potter around doing the bit and bobs she wants to it works well for both of them.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Work today, OH is off to Lords with his eldest to watch cricket so fingers crossed it stays dry for them. I want to get into the garden this afternoon and do a bit of cutting back, the forsythia is far too big, I know it should have been done a while back but have been putting it off.

That's about all the excitement in my day,
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread nmlc.

Warm and dry here so I will be popping a wash on before I go to work. From today my home journal is back in business. It's a combination between a diary and fly lady type thing. I started it last summer and it helped me keep on top of HW and other important things. I let it slip when DH lost his job so its time to get things back on track. Need to do a meal plan/inventory of the freezer and cupboards as well today.

Off to the church later. I am only working until Thursday then I'm off to York for the weekend. Solo trip - yay!

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning everyone.

I woke really early and lay awake for an hour or so. I turned the radio on and heard a bit about podcasts so downloaded a couple of new ones. Eventually I nodded off again. Now the sun is pouring in the house and I'm lying here working up to facing the day.

This morning I've got my chin session and then I plan to go to Tarbert and catch the ferry to Portavadie for a mooch around. I'd hoped to go last week but didn't get there.

Yesterday was a complete washout, rain, rain and more rain there wasn't much done here. Oh, I made a list for packing for my own Orkney trip in a couple of weeks ago. OH always go for the solstice and associated festivals, he enjoys camping. I don't. I'm going on a week of archaeology sites and an hotel.

I hope everyone had a good Monday.

Two mini cucumbers were picked yesterday, I'm very happy :D

The floors were vacuumed, swept and mopped on saturday, by teatime yesterday they looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a month. So I'll be cleaning those again today. I started an online shop on saturday so I could book my preferred time, I need to finish it this morning. When that's done, I'll be working for a couple of hours. Then it's on to my things – printing labels and sticking them on to strung labels, crochet and going through my books for patterns.

Good morning everyone and happy Monday :)

Saturday was a bit of a spend day as we were going to our friends house warming party, so had to buy them a little gift. Sunday was the ultimate lazy day as we lay about feeling sorry for ourselves.

Back to the grind this morning. Payday on Thursday, thank goodness. Determined to spend little nothing until then.

NMLC - Good luck to your DS today with his exam.
Coxy - I like the idea of a home journal, it sounds organised.

    Hi everyone

I lost internet for a few days but am back now. My kitchen is nearly done and I love it. When dds and SIL came they were gobsmacked by it and very impressed. My middle dd then admitted that when she saw the units originally she was not sure they would go with the flooring I had picked and if the grey paint I chose for the walls would work but then admitted that it looked stunning and worked out well.

Builders are hoping to finish up this week but so much has been bodged by the previous owner that everything is taking longer than expected to make sure things are safe.

I had a washload outside yesterday and then the heavens opened. I decided to just leave it rather than get soaked through. Family helped me sort through a lot of boxes yesterday but there is still a mountain to sort. Lovely to be able to cook properly in the kitchen, I made a chicken rissotto on Saturday and a Sunday lunch of roast pork, potatoes, green veg selection and yorkies.

When family saw me cooking properly in the kitchen they said "Now that is Mum!" I feel I am getting some oomph back and feeling more like the old me.

Hope everything is going well for everyone and hugs to all.

  • Morning (((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

After having no hot water yesterday I phoned the council this morning, waiting to hear that an electrician is on their way.........I am having to boil a kettle for hot water for everything. Last night was a lick and a promise instead of our usual slouch. The same again this morning.

I have taken the rest of the meat off yesterdays lamb, OH wants salad, so will cook the last of the Jersey Royals to have with it.

Funny sort of morning, we have quite a breeze, dark clouds scudding over, but no rain forwcast. I have a line of laundry out. Hope it dries.

    Morning (just)

I got up at 4.30, DS was still up, could hear him chatting on his phone so doubt he'll be about much today. I have done some jobs, done some work and about to get on with some neglected jobs.

I put in mixed lettuce seeds on Friday, second lot to follow the ones that are already growing and they are coming up already. They are in pots and I rescued them from a large snail earlier by relocating the snail.

I should get on but am feeling rather lazy today.

    Making lasagne later with salad.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
