Getting stains like doggy licks off chair

When my parents were here with the dog before the dog decided to lick the chair and where she did theres a dark stain (its a black sofa)
But even before that there was a few patches of whiteness (looks like someones tried scrubbing a stain before and just ended up getting water soaked in)
How can I get rid of these stains easily?

Can the covers be removed?
If so, into a quick wash with them
If not, do you know anyone with a carpet cleaner that has an upholstery attachment? Or you can hire one0
