Irish oldstylers- where do you shop?
Looking for some perspective from those of you that live in ROI. Which shop do you think is the cheapest for groceries? I used to think Aldi was the best value, however with the latest Dunnes €10 off €50 vouchers, I think they are coming close (although I suspect there is some false economy in those coupons) And whereas…

I decided to take up knitting again ( after a good 25 years !) and bought a couple of patterns for what I wanted on eBay . One of the patterns is for wool called pingouin orage , knitted on 4 mm & 5 mm needles . As far as I can tell pingouin aren't around now so can anyone help with what kind of wool I should be looking…

What do you do with your old plastic bags?
Everyone has that stash of plastic bags at home (well I know I do!) and we want to know what you do with them. Personally, I use up my stash on changing the cat litter tray! They're the right size and it's just easier to grab a bag rather than opening up a huge bin liner. So tell us below, what do you do with your old…

Storing Fruit and Veg
I am looking for a bit of education here... What is the best way to store fruit and veg? I currently put all veg in the fridge but the carrots end up slimy as do the potatoes. Fruit just depends what space I have. Can someone tell me what I should be doing?! I have plenty cupboard space but should they be in boxes, left in…

Is it possible to do a weekly food shop for 1 Adult and an 11 year old for £25 a week? Tesco Mobile - Contract/Phone Issues
Ive had a Tesco mobile pay monthly contract for almost 6 years. Finally July this year I decided to upgrade my phone and contract to a Samsung S6. A week after the phones arrival I noticed that when at home I was unable to receive or make calls and after investigation found out that a local O2 mast was down. The mast ended…

Comparison of flour brands
We regularly use our food processor to mix bread dough. But one supermarket brand of strong flour we used recently stripped the spindle (and made very poor bread). Foolishly after replacing the spindle we tried again - and had the same result! We are waiting for another new spindle. Having discovered the hard way that not…

Flan dish recipes
I have a large flan dish approx 12 inches x 18 inches with holes in the bottom to ensure the base is well cooked. I use it for pizzas and it is very good. The only shortcoming is that the rim is quite low (about 1 inch). Any ideas of things I could use it for - I think it is a bit 'low' for a quiche.

Mould in the house
I've lived in my flat for about a year now and recently I've noticed a lot of mould on the walls, ect and it's got all over some of my clothes and stuff and is really getting me down. I live in a Victorian property with old sash windows so I imagine this is a fairly common problem. It's rented accommodation so I will be…

Please advise on quick low cholesterol meals
After a recent blood test my doctor referred me to the nurse at the surgery for dietary advice as my cholesterol is higher than normal. I went to see the nurse this morning hoping to come away with some good advice but it was a waste of time. All she did was print something off the internet which I could do myself. When I…

I filled it up today & realised how badly scaled it is. I'm used to descaling a kettle at home, but not sure if could just use the same stuff in this. It won't be easy to…

Dairy Free Chocolate Brownie Recipe with Oilve Oil
I've lost my favourite dairy free chocolate brownie recipe made with olive oil and am going spare. Can anyone help? Looked online but most of the recipes seem to be American in cups and I can't be doing with that! Also I've seen recipes where they recommend cooking for 10-12 minutes and mine cook for about 25 mins. What I…
