  • If you have a look at this thread and scroll down to post 5, you'll see several recipes for plum jam. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=8736367#post8736367

I'm sure somewhere on that index there's a recipe for plum vinegar too.

Hope no-one dies from the recipes.
    Huh?

OP, I too would recommend plum jam. You might also want to dehydrate some in the oven (=prunes) or preserve some in vodka (which I personally think would be a waste of a good plum!) for OS gifting.

  • This plum chutney recipe is brilliant:

I made some lovely plum ice-cream. Just google the recipe. They're all pretty much the same.

I've also frozen some of mine whole.

  • This recipe was from a friend, also when a change from crumble was wanted!

    115g unsalted butter, very soft
175g caster sugar, golden if you have it in .
    1 medium free range egg,beaten
    150g plain flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    a pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of ground ginger..or cinnamon or nutmeg (i used ginger)
100g pecans or chopped walnuts ( i used walnuts)
4 tart eating apples ( i used braeburns)
    4 or 5 plums

Peel and core apples and chop to 1cm pieces
    Chop and stone plums

    Turn oven onto 180c/ gas 4/ 350f

Put butter into bowl and beat til very creamy ,then add sugar . beat til light and fluffy and pale in colour, then gradually add the beaten egg.
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and spice together into the bowl and fold in or mix on slow speed.
When mixed through add the fruit and nuts into bowl and mix in .
Spoon the mix into a prepared loose bottomed tin ,spread evenly and then bake in oven for 30 to 40 minutes til its golden brown and sponge on top springs back when pressed lightly.
  • Thank you for the recipes everyone can't wait to try them xxxxx:beer:
  • Okay, not very OS, and it only uses a few plums. Best with not too ripe plums - I guess if they're ripe, maybe cut back on sugar.

Smash up some brown sugar with some rosemary. Pan fry the plums in butter, add in the sugar/rosemary + add a good slug of brandy. Yum - I've no idea where I found this, but it was really nice. Must try it again!

I just googled brandy/plums/rosemary and found this http://www.dessertsforbreakfast.com/2012/09/plum-rosemary-brandy-cakes.html
