Your best cheesecake recipe?
Hi I can cook/make most things but cheesecake is something I struggle with. I am just back from holiday and had some lovely cheesecake, so on my return I tried to make this http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/perfect_cheesecake/ and it sunk in the middle, the bottom was soggy and tasted more like egg custard. so i tried a…

ideas with tinned sardines other than on toast
I'm on Slimming World (I cannot lose weight without a group) and discovered that canned sardines and mackerel into tomato sauce, brine or spring water are free. I only ate them on toast. I am trying to be bread free.

Any curry experts?
Hi guys Any curry experts here? :) I am going to be making this base gravy for curries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap4UvNoVsXY He is saying to use 2 tablespoons fresh blended garlic/ginger, that seems an awful lot. How many cloves of garlic and how much ginger do you think i should use?

Milk advice
Hi folks, this is probably everyday stuff for you all but I've just had a fab yellow sticker bargain at Tesco. Got 5 cartons of my lactofree milk for 3p each! It's usually £1.35 so I was chuffed. My question is about freezing it, I've never frozen milk before. Do I leave it in the package it came in (tetrapak) or do I need…

Favourite stir fry recipe
I quite often fancy a stir fry, but they never live up to my expectations! I don't like the pre prepared packs of stir fry veg, but have you found a recipe you all love?

Have just received a letter advising that they are changing the pricing structure and my package is going up to £8pw - a price rise of 33%. Has anybody been successful at challenging this price…

Stain removal from leather jacket?
I've bought a second hand leather jacket from ebay at a rather bargainous price because it suffers from staining in a couple of areas. One stained area at the back of the jacket is a deep red, and so is possibly red wine (the seller did say it had had a drink spilled on it), whilst the area of staining on the front of the…

What do you store your eggs in?
I know there's the debate over fridge/cupboard/counter top egg storage but I was trying to pin it down to actual storage container. I am moving from fridge door storing to counter top. I am being a bit nosey but hopefully trying to tap into a good idea that will prevent me having to buy a special holder or if I do have to…

How often do you say "stuff frugality"?
I need a massive tidy up/clear out be it clothes, food etc. I've been brought up to reuse/recycle/freeze/make do etc. But putting these things aside is not helping me reach my goal. How often to you say "stuff it" and just chuck stuff out?? (Promise I won't chuck out obviously useful stuff, but there comes a point when…

Cleaning plastic off cooker hob
I put a plastic bottle on an electric hob  I was able to lift almost all of the plastic off when it was warm, and have scrubbed at the rest. There's is a very small amount of plastic residue still there, though. Any hints? It's a cheap electric hob with a ridged texture to the plates, so I can't use one of those razor…

Stair carpet cleaning?
My Beige stair carpet is looking really grotty, and I'd like to try cleaning/washing it, but don't know how as I don't have any special gadgets, only an ordinary Henry vacuum cleaner. Does anyone have any suggestions that doesn't involve a lot of money please?

Tidying up the Old Stylers' Way: Taking things up, taking things down
I'm just going to blow my own and your trumpet for a moment and go woohoo and thank you Old Stylers! For years you Old Stylers have been advocating never going up or down stairs without taking something with you. I'd never consistently used it as a decluttering and tidying technique until the last few weeks and especially…
