Cleaning plastic off cooker hob

Options
I put a plastic bottle on an electric hob  I was able to lift almost all of the plastic off when it was warm, and have scrubbed at the rest. There's is a very small amount of plastic residue still there, though.

Any hints? It's a cheap electric hob with a ridged texture to the plates, so I can't use one of those razor scrapers you can buy. I'm tempted to just turn it on high and open the window while the residue burns off, or is this a silly idea? There really is very little plastic left on there - you would know it was there unless you looked for it - but I'm cautious to use that plate because it is there.

Get a piece of brown paper or several sheets of folded up kitchen roll and put the iron on. Put it to about wool hot on the iron.

Lay the paper/towel over the plastic then rub the iron over the top, plastic should melt into the towel and keep turning the cloth as well until it's all gone.
