O/S Daily thread Sunday 31st May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning one and all. After the lovely weather yesterday, today we are back to rain!
I am feeling a bit fragile this morning! We had a lovely meal out last night for DS's birthday. The food was fantastic and the wine (too much of it in my case!) was flowing. As usual the restaurant was packed but it has such a good reputation it usually is.
We are going over to the caravan site at lunchtime, to meet up with the electrician neighbour there who is going to replace the faulty 12v charger for us. I am calling for a couple of bottles of wine for him, as a thank you, on the way over. We are only staying till Wednesday morning as I need to be back for a lunch meet-up with friends and then the 3 DGDs are here for tea and a sleepover, prior to next mornings school run. The forecast for the next few days isn't too good but we are hoping to go to Ripon races on Tuesday as we haven't managed to get there yet this season. We very rarely come out on top with winners but a few times have broke even, winning just enough to cover the admission price and our bets! So it's fingers crossed!
Have a good Sunday and (((((HUGS))))) to those in need. Take care whatever you are up to xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Grey and wet here again after a lovely Saturday. I planted a few little new plants into nooks and crannies in the garden. No confidence that they will last as the soil is very stony.
I'm off to Glasgow this morning and staying overnight with my mum. She's got a few tasks for me to do and we'll spend some time together.
TA - have a lovely trip and days away.
Hope that there are better times for everyone.0 -

Gers I watch NCIS on Fox, so might be watching a different series to you? I'm on series 12. I really like the new agent too, was prepared to hate her because Ziva was fab
I also watch the old series on other channels
Mr tru's not keen, thought he'd like the LA version but he's not interested in that either.
Enjoy your break TravellingAbuela x
Turned out the hard ball I'd bought for Scampi to make do WAS the strong one – I knew it was the same make but didn't realise it was the same ball when I bought it, I was talking to someone about them and dug the label out of the bin to double-check  Bit stuck as to what to buy him now. A couple of bricks perhaps?! He shouldn't be able to chew through those, lol. I'll just stick to cheap tennis balls and hope he grows out of the manic chewing.
I cut my hair yesterday, I wanted it all one length but I was beginning to resemble Crystal Tipps, lol. I now have long layers, and have thinned it too – twice, because the first go didn't seem to take enough out. My head feels lighter
I've ordered a new Dyson, I went for the DC40 Animal in the end. Should be here tomorrow and I can't wait – how sadI whizzed around downstairs with the Henry yesterday, for all the good it did. I've taken him upstairs to live, he works OK on the carpets up there, I just need to find space to store him.
The weather's not great again today, I'll stay indoors with my crochet and chocolate

Raining here today so I'm not sure what hubby will do if he can't get out in the garden.
I will potter about & do a bit of crochet I expect.
The DGC were both very good yesterday but it's hard work lugging the baby around as she is so heavy.
The fish have been fed & hubby & I both have a cuppa, I'll cook breakfast when he gets up.
Have a good day everyone

Morning all
Another wet day , I was going to tidy the front garden , but as it's raining I'm staying in my Jamas and eating toast and marmalade :T
Dd2 is working , she has a little job in a local park cafe , they do lovely food and cake :j I keep popping in when I pick her up I really should stop
If the rain continues I'll concentrate on the house, the upstairs needs a good going over and then I think I might have a nana nap
Not sure what's for lunch , we have plenty in just need to decide
Have a good day everyone
(((Hugs))) to all who need Elona thinking of you x0 -
Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Raining here too, so no gardening. I am going to tackle the cupboards in the kitchen, one at a time, so the one nearest the wall will be done this morning. I line the shelves with wall lining paper when they are done, just have to whip it out when we do empty the cupboards, shelves are left sparkling!! At some point I need the steps in to do the tops of the wall cupboards, they will need doing too.
I had some yarn left from GGD's coats, U3A chairperson asked us at the last meeting to knit hats for babies in Nepal, so I am using up that yarn, when its gone thats it. Need to conserve my dosh for the bungalow; when we do get the keys. This week I hope or OH will blow a gasket.......and he will be sending for the chaps in white coats for me.:eek::D
Right offsky to start on the cupboards..........................0 -
Good morning,
Raining here as well, quite heavy.
I have hoovered downstairs and Himself upstairs, so we are nice and clean. I have cleaned the bathroom and coloured my roots, so I can face the world tomorrow. We had wanted to go to the Garden Centre but that will have to wait until later in the week.
I think it will be a quiet afternoon, Himself and the cat both have a siesta and I will curl up with the Sunday paper.
Can I just say that Gibbs can have the top off my egg anytime. Tru we are watching series 12 as well, and yes I do like Bishop, although she is a completely different character to Ziva, which I think she needed to be. I think the chemistry between Tony and Ziva was electric
Have a good day if you can

Morning all,
Pouring with rain here too I have the bedding in the wm which will be hung over the airer in the conservatory.
The larder cupboards are doing very well both carcass's are made and in position today OH will do the doors and I will start painting them, the need a coat of MDF primer first and then two good coats so its not a quick job, but they look great :jand they are huge I will be able to fit all my food and dried goods in and free up some more space in the kitchen.
OH gone out for the makings of a huge breakfast we both woke up starving, my mum came round yesterday with fresh crab that she had bought she dressed them and we were going to have it for dinner with salad and bread and butter, bless her it was full of bits of shell and body parts of the crab _pale_ and it had no flavour at all and was very watery, none of us could eat it we ended up chucking it and having a cheese sandwich so we are starving this morning !
Today we will have something with mince which I shall make in a while so that its all ready for heating through tonight.
Jackie O hope you are improving
Sistercas nice to see you posting again.
Have good days all xx0 -
Finished lengthening and hand sewing the hem of DD's curtains last night so want to iron them later.
Made us tea and a bacon and egg roll for breakfast and have sea bass with prawns and roasted vegetables for a lateish lunch.
DD is baking a chocolate cake for a friend and I will pop out later to get some more dark chocolate for the icing and see if there are any YS bargains that I can freeze.
Other DD has got passport photos taken so will help her with the forms over the next day or two and send off the application for her.
Youngest is still at uni and older DD and SIL are off for a few days in Skye so hope they have a lovely relaxing time.
Hope JackieO is recovering well and hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Good Morning everyone, DD and family left an hour ago and I was like Dido in the ruins of Carthage..... nice and tidy and everything put away now though and bless He Who Knows, he washed up everything from brunch that wouldn't fit into the dishwasher so kitchen reclaimed too. Beds changed, cot changed and everything in the washing machine and tidy bedrooms. Gave DD the first picking of beetroot from the polytunnel along with some little gem lettuce hearts and a bag of fresh peas to take back and Zebra had a leftover danish pastry to take back and some of Omas spag bol which he ate an enormous portion of yesterday. Much fun had yesterday afternoon when Zebra discovered just how much fun it is to have wheelbarrow rides round the garden accompanied by appropriate care engine noises, hilarious and we fed him the first few properly ripe strawberries straight off the plant, an image I've had in my head since he was born, wonderful stuff!
Very sad here today, Dockys tumour is getting more and more fragile and being open more than it is healed, DD said goodbyes this morning, many tears but he can't carry on like this for very much longer. He Who Knows is away for a couple of days to DD1 and we'll review when he comes home, trying to be practical about it but it's difficult and very emotional even though I know it's the responsible thing to do and for his sake, hard times!0
