O/S Daily Friday 29th May 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

JackieO – good luck for today x

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, light cloud with sun trying to break through, air feels really cool though. Load in WM to go out on the line/in TD.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas and mushrooms, ice cream/cakes for dessert. I’d planned chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, fishcake, jacket potato and veg for me, but DH said last night he would cook a stir fry – so will get the ingredients for that this morning when I do the shopping, and then we have meals sorted for tonight and tomorrow night and can decide later which we have on which night. (Stir fry is cooked outside on gas bbq in a big paella pan – so can be a bit weather dependent but if weather is rubbish he will bring pan inside and cook on gas hob).

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, DS2 had a booster injection first thing, so we were up and about quite early, got to the Doc’s and he was seen as soon as arrived in waiting room and then on the way home we stopped off at the MrL’s to organise something for last nights’ dinner, I also picked up a few bits that I needed that are cheaper there than MrM’s which is where I do my main food shop today. Once I was home, I stuck in with the washing, drying and ironing, I stripped, washed and remade our bed and DS2’s, will do DS1’s today, got everything dry on the line, except I did put the bedding in TD just for 20 mins, just too finish off. I shoved the hoover round, and moved our bed etc. Did some further tidying in the kitchen, my desk, general papers that are strewn over the lounge floor, on top of the drinks cabinet (all belonging to DH to do with the caravan stuff we’re involved in and he’s useless at admin and I’m fed up of sorting it, hopefully we only have until November then his term of office is finished and there’s not really anything else for him to do – at least that’s the way it looks at the moment, but he may get approached to do/assist in something, if not, we can spend some time doing our own thing which will be nice.)

Today, I’ll be heading into town shortly to visit the bank, then on to do the food shopping. When sorting my desk yesterday I found all my MrT vouchers and I had some arrive yesterday in the post, I’ve read the leaflet and I should be able to boost the vouchers to then purchase suncream for our hols – so will be visiting MrT later to organise that, as I use really strong stuff that’s expensive but won’t sit in the sun without using it. DS2 is possibly going to work with DH later so he is coming with me to town and then I’ll arrange to meet up with DH so DS2 can go with him before going to do the food shopping. I’m hoping I can continue on with sorting DS2’s room I made headway before we went away and obviously didn’t get anything done last week as we were away – would like to get going again with it, so we can get rid of the junk/rubbish from there – it looked so much better but it’s a bit of a mess again already – he’s not a tidy teenager!

    Have good Fridays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Morning one and all. Miserable start here - we have rain!

Good luck Jackie, hope all goes well and you are soon out shopping for those pretty bras!

I had a good day out yesterday but, by heck, Skipton was decidedly chilly. At least it kept dry though. We came back with quite a few bags each. Both got socks from H of F sale for our DHs. I got a pretty baby dress for the new arrival, a present for SILs 60th birthday next week and 2 boxes of Little Hotties from the Candle Shop. I put a big assortment of the little fragrance melts in the pick'n'mix box and look forward to experimenting with them! We had a lovely lunch and, of course, a bottle of wine to share, so all in all a good day out.

Boring day ahead as it's Friday cleaning day yet again! Lunch will be the remains of the Corned Beef Hash I made yesterday and I think dinner will be Spag Bol.

Have a good day all and I hope the poorlies soon feel better. Take care xx

    Morning everyone.

No rain here, yet. Still feeling a little rough so won't be too energetic today. No washing to do, OH away, got books to read so that could be my day.

I've probably missed JackieO but she's in my thoughts, how thrilling for her.

    Anyway, back under the duvet.

    Happy Friday everyone.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Woke up to drizzly rain this morning, typical as we are dog-sitting Mylo, my sisters pup for the next 4 days. Oh well, I am going to have to accept a few muddy carpets :). I'm not too despondent, I have bacon under the grill ready for a sarnie in a minute and the smell is driving Max mad :D. His little nose is twitching away and he's hovering in the kitchen.

Hubby has gone off to work ok and the girls are asleep. My lovely DD12 is coming home this evening and I can't wait to see her, I've missed her so so much. I making salmon for tea as it's her favourite. Last nights lamb was absolutely lovely, I will definitely make it again.

Wishing JackieO an uneventful op and a swift recovery. Hope everyone else manages to have a great day whatever they are up to, take care xx

    Hi everyone,

I've not posted for a while but have been keeping up with events. JackieO, I hope the op goes well. Elona I am very sorry for your loss, I am filled with admiration for the way you are coping. MrsLW, I hope Docky's injury is still healing, I well remember the feelings you must be going through. Tru and Dumpling, I'm loving hearing about the new members of the family, but it's making me glad we haven't succumbed to a new puppy, they are so much work.

I'm very busy with wedding prep at the moment. It's still 4 months away but time seems to be speeding up. We're going to Norfolk at the weekend to taste ice creams and lunch suggestions. Last weekend we were in Glasgow, meeting DD's bf's family members that we haven't met before.

On top of that DS got engaged to his gf last week, they've been together 12 years since they were 16 so it's not been a whirlwind romance. Saying that they are very sweet together and she is already a member of the family. He proposed in Rome (they love it there) with his Great-grandmother's ring that I had given him. He didn't want to buy a ring without her but didn't want to propose without one so it was a good compromise. It's art deco style from the 1920's so I knew she would love it and she did (she also loves the fact it's come down through the family). They also bought their own ring - from the same era a beautiful diamond solitaire with a very unusual mount.

I need to go to MK today to take some trousers back for DH and buy some face creams for DD with my discount. Then on to pick up samples of wedding cake from St Neots and then a quick whiz around the house. Chicken and chorizo bake for dinner I think.

    Have a good day all.
