O/S Daily Thursday 28th May 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, light cloud with sun trying to break through, air feels really cool though. Load in WM to go out on the line.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese and gravy, LO cakes for dessert for those that wanted some. Not sure what we’re eating tonight but will organise later.

Yesterday work was busy. Once I’d finished work I went to the bank, then home, had lunch, did some chores and then took DS2 to the dentist for a check up.

Today DS2 has a booster injection first thing, so once we’ve been to do that I’ll stop off on the way home and pick up something for tonight’s dinner.

I’ll need then to crack on with todays’ chores, I have quite an ironing pile, the weather’s been pretty decent so have been getting a line of washing dry each day – now it all needs ironing. Housework needs doing and beds need stripping and changing. I started a menu plan and shopping list last night whilst the dinner was cooking, as I checked the fridge and store cupboard contents – will continue with this so I’m more organised for the weekend and next week. It just threw a spanner in the works as we went away Thursday morning so I shopped last Wednesday instead of Friday.

I’ll have enough to keep me busy I think!

    Keep safe and well x

Morning one and all. We had rain last night but now the sun is out and sky clearing so may be a nice day. Feels quite cool though.

Well how's this for service?! I ordered our caravan charger from Baileys about 2.00 p.m yesterday and an hour later got an e-mail to say it had been despatched and would be delivered this morning! Our caravan electrician neighbour is going to meet us over there on Sunday and fit it for us. I must find out what his tipple is and buy him a bottle for his kindness. He's saved us a big call-out fee for the mobile repairman who visits our site.

I'm having a day out with my friend today. Even though not a market day we still fancy Skipton, just for a browse as some nice specialist shops and quite a few charity shops. Of course lunch in the Red Lion, with a bottle of wine, is the main attraction. (We go on the bus so no drink driving involved!) I also need to buy a baby outfit for nephew and his wife who had a little girl yesterday - Fleur Rose - isn't that a pretty name?

I have a pan of corned beef hash on the go at the minute, so a big bowlful will do for Mr TA's lunch in my absence, with the remainder coming in for our lunches tomorrow. I have a piece of salmon defrosting for his dinner tonight but I shall play it by ear myself, it depends how much and how late we eat in Skipton!

DD and the girls are due home from the caravan today. They have stuck it out despite half of the electric supply out of action! We looked forward to our childfree week but we've missed having them in the end!

I hope the poorly ones are feeling better today and thinking of Docky too. Jackie every good wish for your op and hope all goes well. Elona what a thoughtful family you have. Take care all and enjoy your day if you can xx

ps welcome newroadahead, pleased to meet you!

    Morning all,

Cracking day here already so work will be manic! We have a water day today where basically the whole place is turned into a giant water fight the kids love it but the whole place is heaving all day ! Wont get much of a sit down today then !

Something and chips for dinner tonight will go and rummage in the freezer after this, I think there is some bacon in there and I Have two enormous duck eggs to use up so it might be bacon egg and chips.

No shopping coming tonight as I think we have enough to last the week might just need to nip out at the weekend for a few bits.

Jackie O will be thinking of you today xx

Camelot how is your back ?

Topsy mum is still not moved in ! truth be told I think she is a bit nervous about living on her own again after all these months, but it will hopefully be this weekend. Enjoy your camping !!

    Welcome to NRA xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

I seem to be here early today :)
Bed stripped and machine on. Off for a walk with my friend at 9 and a coffee and catch up.
I'm going to hopefully doing a bit in my dad's garden this afternoon. He was talking about getting a gardener but I thought I'd give it a go. I don't mind weeding and pruning, just not a fan of mowing, which luckily he is still ok to do himself. I'll see how it goes.

Have a good day all :)

    Good morning everyone

We had a fair bit of rain last night so it feels much cooler here today. Max hates the rain so we had a couple of accidents, one of which I stepped in , nothing like the feel of warm puppy widdle between your toes :D. Never mind, apart from that he is doing fantastically well. He has developed the habit of trying to get out of the front door when someone comes so hubby has put a stair gate up for now to keep him in the living room.

It's DD14's birthday today but obviously there is no sign of her yet :rotfl:. She and her sister were up late last night giggling away, it's lovely to hear them get on as it's not usually the case. I'm really missing DD12 but she gets home tomorrow. I've been sent a couple of pictures from their holiday and it looks like she is having a great time.

I will attempt to make the lamb tonight as all plans changed yesterday because the girls went to town and bought sausage and chips so we didn't fancy a cooked meal for tea as well. I need to sort out my fridge too, it's bulging at the seams so it needs organising.

Thinking of JackieO today, I really hope your operation goes well and you are happy with the result. I dream of wearing pretty bras too as at the moment I have to order mine from the USA and they are a feat of engineering but not very attractive :rotfl::rotfl:.

Well, that's all from me, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to and offering hugs to all who would like one, take care xx

    Morning everyone.

Well the sun is out but the forecast is for rain later. When I came out of the class last night the rain was terrible.

Talking so much last night wasn't great for my throat and I was back to coughing. Today I will not speak at all.

I have to do more work on my online stuff and I want to cull a number of my t-shirts. Not having to be in an office every day means I don't need so many. In fact I no longer wear a clean one every day as I find I can wear a top twice or sometimes three times before it needs washing. Have to say it was a weird feeling at first and then I remembered that as a child I used to hang up my clothes properly overnight to wear the next day.

Breakfast is porridge and there is meatballs and chorizo for a hot meal later.

Right, need to move myself. Hope everyone has a good day. Lots of you floating through my mind with extra good vibes going your way.

    Morning :hello:

JackieO Good luck with your op xx

Gers I meant to say yesterday, great photos :D

dumpling I hope your meds are sorted quickly for you xx

elona I hope you're OK xx

    Hello newroadahead

TravellingAbuela Fleur Rose is a lovely name

topsyturphy We're certainly kept on our toes :D I can't remember the last time I had to pay such close attention to something, lol
dumpling Scampi hates the rain too, and has also tried to escape through the front door – and managed it once  Luckily he headed straight for the front garden two doors up, for some reason he always wanted to go in there when we're on a walk. Now he's visited it by himself (!) he's not interested in it. I put his lead on when there's a knock at the door now, he sits next to me while I open it.

Henry just isn't up to the job of removing dog hair :D He's in great working order though, so I'm hesitant to give him up. I'm going to search for a Dyson, I've had two before and they were great. I know a few models had flimsy parts but others were really sturdy so I'm going to have to do a bit of research. I might even keep the Henry upstairs so I have one vacuum cleaner on each floor, saves lugging one up and down the stairs :D

We bought some more compost, mr tru's chilli replanting has used all of ours and the next lot hasn't rotted down yet. I want to grow more salad leaves, I keep having to buy them to top up what we've grown.

I didn't get much sleep last night, woke up at midnight and couldn't get back to sleep. I came downstairs and watched a couple of episodes of Hawaii Five-0 then drifted off at about 4am. I woke up, very uncomfortable at just gone 7.30am. No plans for today, I'll just be pottering about.

    Morning all

Best wishes to JackieO for your op.

Dh just gone fishing for the morning and I'm going to have a lovely time potting on some stuff in the garden, for the garden and the lottie. Blasted slug eaten one of my grown from seed delphiniums I was so proud of, if I see him he will be having early bath in the water butt.

Big cloud just going over to give us some glorious sunshine, I'm off to the garden.....🌷

Hugs to all those that need them
