Morning all
Welcome NRA, Camelot, hope your back is improving.
I've fed the fish, cooked breakfast for hubby, taken him to work, checked the mouse trap in my office (empty), got home, swept the stones of the pavement (the local kids play with them & then the council complain), hung the washing out & now I'm sat with a cuppa.
I shall give everywhere a swish & swipe today, make a couple of phone calls then I may do some dress making or some crochet.
Have a good day everyone.

Waiting for another removal estimator to come. then I am going to sort out our bedroom and the sewing room. We have 6 people coming to view tomorrow!!!:D:D The market in Melton is starved of houses to let.
Sun has just come out. Its my quilting group this afternoon, already know we may be one down.......a phone call last night.
OH is getting twitchy because we have not heard from the outreach worker. I suspect there was more needed done than they realised. If we do not hear by Tuesday next week we will ring and see whats going on.
I did look at the list this morning and there are 2 bungalows on, but both are in a part of the town I would not be happy living in, I guess anyway there will be a lot of people applying for them.
Right, offsky for now. May be back later.0 -
Morning everyone,
Well I am back online and we have moved into our cottage over the weekend :jDownstairs is still like a building site with a lot to do yet.I have a makeshift kitchen and small sitting area where we can watch TV in the evening.Upstairs is lovely though and its been a joy to have a decent shower and bath after the inadequate bathroom in the rented house.
We met the landlord to hand back the keys and for him to inspect everywhere. It was very odd-he went straight to the bathroom tap that swivels round when you try to turn it on and wiggled it.Obviously knew about it,perhaps he was hoping DH would fix it.
He hadnt brought our deposit money with him either, said the bank was shut, hmm yes it was a Bank Hol! He rang us about an hour later and said he wasnt happy with the carpet it smelt doggy.DH said we'd had it professionally cleaned last week.He said they hadnt done a very good job and he'd have to get it done again so he'd be knocking some money off.Fair enough .I suppose you do get a bit used to a bit of a doggy whiffand I did my best with the Vax,washing it once a month, but getting someone in to do it at the end of the tenancy.
What really got my goat when DH went to pick up the money was the LL said he'd had to spend £70 on getting the oven cleaned  I spent hours on Saturday doing that, soaked the shelves in one of those cleaning bags overnight and they were gleaming. The grill pan was in a much better state than when we moved in,it was full of thick carbonated gunk, and an old chip _pale_ and I soaked that in a bag asap but it didnt get rid of it all so I always put foil under if I used it.Then he said the carpet man said it might shrink so he didn't bother with him and did it himself with Stardrops.Grr,sorry that turned into a bit of a rant.So glad :jwe're out of the dark house that still had 90s decor in it.It was just so convenient to move 2 doors down when we sold our own and the cottage hadnt been turned over to us,we probably didnt look carefully enough at its many faults.I am missing my friends and neighbours though, they were a lovely lot.
Not had chance to catch up on days of news from you all,but do wish Jackie all the best for your op,and Mrs LW hugs for Docky.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning All
Slow start for me, still not able to go to work and feeling really bored and fed up! I think I am improving slowly as long as I keep getting up for a walk round but the mornings are the worst. Going to try a few exercises today to see if that helps.
I am meant to be going to a caravan in Berwick tomorrow with my cousin and her husband, they are there for a week, I'll just be there for the weekend - IF I can manage the car!
The weather is glorious at the moment but we have had some really heavy showers already, so glad I am not able to peg out the washing!
Hugs to everyone not feeling up to scratch, JackieO I will be thinking of you.
Welcome to newroadahead and have a lovely day TA, hic! Take care. XX0 -
Looks as if it will be a nice day.
Had tea and toast for breakfast, leftover low cal home made lasagne for tonight and might make an omelette for lunch.
Dishwasher is loaded and did not manage to go to post office yesterday so will do that later. Gardener is due today so will work around that.
Older DD is in France today for business but phoned her yesterday to thank them for the flowers.
JackieO

Afternoon all,
didn't get to read yesterdays daily. I'll catch up in a bit. Thinking of you JackieO and I hope you make a swift recovery from your surgery. Thinking of you too Elona and Hilstep too following your losses.
My daughter, her partner and Soldier should be back at the Baby House by now. I tracked their first plane into Dubai but went to sleep after that. I've left her messages to let me know if all went well with the flight but she's not got back to me yet.
Back to normal for me. Youngest daughter started back to work today so I have my Grandson for the day. His Daddy will be picking him up at 5. He's fast asleep in his 'Big Boy Bed'. He's not very well. I think it must be the shock of coming from a hot country to the UK. He's got a cold and grumpy with it. He misses his Mummy too.
Had to clear up a misunderstanding with my eldest son today. It had been bugging me for days and despite everyone telling me to just let it go... I felt that our relationship was worth more than that. I'm glad I did.
Not sure what I'm doing for tea tonight, at least when the little one has gone I should be able to relax. Youngest can do his own sandwiches for tomorrow.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Afternoon all
Hope everyone is well and hugs and spoons to poorlies.
Bright and breezy here so I have a load of washing out. Have cooked a quiche ready for dinner and sweet potato soup for lunch. Mr G and I will have it with JJ's herby bread from the freezer.
The kitchen floor is washed and drying and so is the bathroom.
That's it for today although I will swish and swipe the bathroom.
We are going to friends for coffee this afternoon and I need to get some milk on the way home. They don't live far away. It's funny isn't it when all your friends start retiring and you socialise in a different way to when you were working. We are not officially retired but Mr G got made redundant nearly two years ago and my voluntary sector teaching contract finished so we haven't looked for work since then. Living on redundancy, his private pension and savings.
He will be 64 this year.....not long until the retirement pension kicks in!
We do volunteer for the local foodbank-did that yesterday so I am tired today. My fault really as we stayed up a bit after Mt G got back from weekly model railway club last night.
Well hugs to all and have a good day.

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Henry just isn't up to the job of removing dog hair
He's in great working order though, so I'm hesitant to give him up. I'm going to search for a Dyson, I've had two before and they were great. I know a few models had flimsy parts but others were really sturdy so I'm going to have to do a bit of research. I might even keep the Henry upstairs so I have one vacuum cleaner on each floor, saves lugging one up and down the stairs

The other good thing about it is there's a method of removing the roller, to remove waist-length human hair (mine) that gets wrapped round it; with the old one, I had to spend ages winkling the hair off with scissors, as the roller wasn't removable.
How does Scampi feel about being brushed, btw?:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon everyone, JACKIE O hope all goes well with your op and that you are soon back and posting with us again, thinking of you.
Well, the added medication is I think working, Docky hasn't tried to scratch for more than 24 hours now, most particularly he hasn't tried to scratch when we walk him as we have to remove his cone or he won't go. I'm still not convinced we're out of the woods as he managed to rub the wound with his cone last night and had a few drips on the inside when I woke up this morning. However, the wound seems to heal up readily when left alone and I wonder, it's just possible that it might heal itself if left alone. I know it's inevitably going to give problems in the longer term but am now wondering if there might be a short, short-term, we'll have to see. Thank you for all the support, it really helps, it really does make the burden of responsibility easier to cope with and helps it not be too dark in the wee small hours.
I found my Zebra some lovely little toy cars in a charity shop this morning a JCB, a concrete mixer and a crane he'll love as they are just the right size for little hands. I also found him a lovely bath towel in A*di for £3.99. It's a beach towel and it's bright blue with green and cream turtles on it, he'll love it! My other bargain was a bowl of clementines for £1 at our local greengrocer, when I counted there were 14, Zebra loves clementines, can only be good.
Have yourselves a nice day, Lyn xxx.0
