Being a bit MSE I managed to get a hardly used bed guard from ebay for not very much. BUT when I got it, it was clear that it came from a smoking household. Any ideas on how to get it smoke-free and smelling a bit more pleasant? It's currently in the car, but I need to move it soon as it's starting to pong in there :(…

Mould on suede
Hi all, I did a quick search but couldn't find anything on the topic. One hot day some chocolate melted in a leather bag, with a suede lining. I was annoyed and left it to one side in my room and today picked it up, about 6 weeks later, and I found some mould growing on it  How can I go about removing the mould, most…

Frozen, cooked prawns - can I eat tomorrow?
I used a bag of frozen, cooked prawns to make a curry today. There's a small portion left, enough to have on a wrap tomorrow for lunch I think - is it safe to eat these prawns tomorrow? The bag doesn't state that the prawns can't be reheated but does say they shouldn't be re-frozen.

Well that's the last time I listen to you lot.......
:p :rotfl: I've just made a kind of 'gloop'. There's really no other way to describe it. It started off life as being mince but following on from my previous thread about how far mince should stretch, I decided to add things in (that were suggested in the other thread) to make it go further. Note to self : You don't need…

out of date trifle sponges
I've found some trifle sponges in the cupboard still fully sealed but dated 7/8/13. They look fine but I have no idea what kind of lifespan I can expect them to have. Normally trust my own judgement rather than dates but don't usually buy trifle sponges... Any thoughts appreciated!

Soaking potatoes before boiling
Mum taught me always to soak tatties for a few hours then change the water before actually boiling them, it was something to do with removing some of the starch I think. I mentioned this to someone this morning and she looked at me as if I was a daft man that knows nothing, at 53, I was reluctant to say 'but my mum says'…
