This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Why is it October and pitch black at 6am, yet there are still wasps who want to come in my bathroom as soon as I open the window? Grrrrr!
Can't believe it is Monday already but am only in work 4 days this week and it's not long to half term now. Likely to be a late night tonight so have planned a quick fry up/all day breakfast for dinner.
Our porch/bay roof/guttering needs some repairs/replacement and am dreading the bill, builder is coming to see us and neighbour on Wednesday, so I may be back whingeing about that one.
Better get a move on, so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Very misty here this morning, took hubby to work at 6:30 and there'd been an accident on the main road, it didn't look to serious and lots of people had stopped. I was able to get through to get hubby to work on time, he's opening up, so can't be late.
Congratulations to MM on becoming a great aunt.
JO, glad you had a good time, take it easy now.
TTFM, hope work isn't too stressful.
Hugs to Molly, Hilly, bemuzed and a wave to LW.
I started knitting a little teddy y'day and have done about half of it, I'm still crocheting blankets and I still have a couple of dresses to take in, oh and more apples to prep. I think that will keep me busy today.
Have a good day everyone.

Wet and gloomy here, washing will have to stay inside again although yesterday's was half dried outside.
Had a slow day yesterday as I had been out to friends on Saturday evening and had a couple of glasses of wine - lovely but the effects are shocking these days!
Had a visit from DS1 and GF who I haven't heard from for nearly 2 years. DS1 was ok and seemed to want to chat but GF just wanted to start an arguement again. I told her if she was going to be intimidating and speak to me in an aggressive manner she could leave. DS had a word with her and she came round a bit in the end. She is terribly jealous of DSs siblings for some reason - thinks they get far more than DS does. In other words I wont pander to their every whim and hand out money all over the place. When they get over themselves things will be better! They didn't bring my DGD as they are trying to use her as a tool against me but as I pointed out you don't miss something you've never had.
Anyway, they took away all DSs stuff so that's less to move and gives me more space in the garage.
DD came back from France last night and seemed to have had a good time, she's back at work today.
Chicken and something for tea, need to go shopping to get fresh veg and fruit so will do that on the way home.
Take care and have a good week. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull, dreich and dry here this morning. Washing in the WM.
DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner yesterday was beef stew and dumplings, prepped it and put it in the slow cooker by 9.30am, don't use the slow cooker that much as we find it always makes the meat taste funny iyswim, and DH is not keen. But when I put everything in yesterday I used a different sort of gravy powder and threw in some Worcester sauce and a stock cube etc, I also put some chunks of potato in - only problem was that it was then so full that there was no room on the top for the dumplings - when we got back I quickly shoved the oven on, ladled some of the casserole into a separate casserole - made the dumplings and just cooked them on top of the casserole in the oven - not very OS I admit but the oven was only on for half an hour instead of the 2-3 hours it would take to cook the whole casserole. I'd already prepped the veg before we went out so we had potatoes, cabbage, green beans and carrots with it - it was really tasty - will be using it a bit more again now it's getting cooler.
The meeting we went to all went off ok, all the normal stuff - met up with a friends we haven't seen for a while - many of the them we now won't see until next year - can't believe how quickly this year has passed! We have 2 more of these meeting to go to next weekend, 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday.
Back to work for me today - thinking it will probably be a manic Monday - but at least it makes the day pass quicker.
Will be stopping off at the SM on the way home as need to stock up on some fresh stuff as the fridge is looking a bit bare, will only buy a few bits and then do another proper shop as normal on Friday. Need to sort something out for dinner tonight too as there's no menu plan in place - I do have some meat in the freezer for other nights - thinking tonight I may go along the cooked brekkie route for dinner, there's some potatoes left from yesterday, I also have bacon, sausages, mushrooms in the fridge, I do need eggs though.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Nice day here, i am off to work as is dd and OH, so busy household today. I went to see my mum yesterday after her hip operation she is doing so well can get herself up and to the loo and she is walking further each day, hopefully she will be home tyomorrow. She is right next to the nurses station and they are very loud so she is not getting much sleep.
Dinner tonight will be smoked sausage pasta nice and easy for whoever gets in first.
Got the new curtain rail and blind up in the bedroom, I have hung the curtains but they will need to come down again for the length to be altered, which will be fun as I really dont know one end of a needle from the other ! Thank god dd will be here !
Need to do a wash tonight and will hang it on the airer.
Hester nice to 'see' you back on FB xx
Marie congratulations xx

Morning all,
Well after a very misty start, the sun is shining. Just hope it stays all day!
Off for the weekly walk and chat with my friend. Probably go down by the river again. Just love it there.
Work at lunchtime and in between I must do a bit of housework and I have DS2's too small jacket to pop back to Burtons.
Haven't really thought about dinner tonight but might do a homemade pizza.
Have a good day all!0 -
Morning everyone,
Up and getting ready for work. Wish I could stay in bed! Had a nice lazy day yesterday which I really needed!
Watched Downton Abbey last night and I was really shocked! No spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but it was brilliantly acted and very disturbing...
I have some leftover bolognese from Saturday in the fridge so I might have that tonight with some chips and cheese! Mmm! BF has his mate over to do some songwriting, so I have the tv to myself :-)
Hope you all have a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It looks to be shaping up to be another nice day here today. I can't believe it's Monday again though, the weekend just flew past. Hubby and DDs have gone off to school/work and I'm just going to have a quick tidy up before eldest DD arives with my grandson. She only has a few more driving lessons before her test and the nerves are starting to show. It's a shame we don't have a car so her dad could take her out but then again that may not be the best idea either judging by various driving programmes I've seen on the tv!
I have quite a bit of leftover pork from yesterday so I'm planning a pork and vegetable curry for me and hubby and the girls with have something with pasta. My youngest DD has been invited to a birthday party after school so I don't have to cater for her. I didn't get round to making the biscotti either so that is on the plans for later.
I think I may take my grandson out for a trip on the bus as he loves it, it's one of his favourite activities and I need to get a bit of shopping for tonight anyway. I'll have to remind his mum to bring his wrist strap though as he sometimes makes a dash for it and I would have no chance of catching him. Saying that, he's always been really well behaved for me but there's always that chance.
Hope everyone on here has a great day....even if it is a Monday.
Take care and as always, gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x.0
