OS Daily Thread Tuesday 8th October 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • TTFTM - good luck for your interview!

Morning all, just quickly popping in this morning. Finding it hard to wake up properly! Need to go to my mums after I drop BF at work, then off to work myself. Late shift today, and I'm duty manager so I'll be there even later.
Hope everyone has a good day!
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j
  • Morning all
    Fingers crossed TTFM.
I'm off to work at 10, but I'm up dressed and ready as hubby is on earlies and I've already cooked his breakfast and dropped him at work.
It's very misty here and chilly, not sure if we'll get any sun today, I have some washing that I'll hang on the line before I set off, I'll be home by 3 so I can hang it on the maiden then if it's still damp.
I've nearly finished the teddy I'm knitting, I shall take it to work and knit during my break.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy and dry here this morning. Washing on the line.

DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was another disjointed meal, the boys and myself ate at our near normal time, but DH was very late home from work, as a last minute rush job came in and he did it. Tonight shouldn't be so bad as he's on a different job today. We had egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans etc. Tonight we could have either roast chicken pieces, pots, veg and gravy or gammon and egg - think it may be the chicken pieces as we had eggs etc last night. Stopped off at the SM on the way home from work to get some supplies in - came to so much money compared to what I usually spend at A**i - remember now why I choose to shop elsewhere.

Work yesterday was a bit of a manic Monday as expected but colleagues were telling me that it was horrendously busy at the end of last week too. Hoping today may be a little less busy but busy enough to make the day go quicker!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Cool here but no rain, all off to work today so minimum os here today, dinner tonight will be pie and mash with some veg.

Will do a wash tonight and get it on the airer and have a tidy through.

Will hopefully get mum home later on today, and get her down to see my dad, she has been so worried about him.

    TTFTM good luck xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I haven't looked out the window yet so I don't know what the weather is going to be like :D. Hoping for a dry day as I'm meeting a lady from church for a coffee. I'm really nervous as I don't really know her but she comes across as very nice so I'm sure it will be ok. It will be very nice to make a new friend anyway.

Hubby has gone off to work happy as they are giving him much more responsibility and he loves a challenge...he must do or he wouldn't have married me :rotfl::rotfl:. The girls are supposedly getting ready for school but I can hear the Disney channel on the TV. I must chivvy them along or they will never be ready in time.

I'm starting the cook everything in a cookbook challenge today by making the Hairy Dieters sticky chicken with home made coleslaw, green salad and new potatoes. It looks lovely in the book but whether I can recreate it is another matter. The good thing though is that it is quick to make, as I find most of their recipes need 20 different ingredients! Anyway, the family are willing to let me experiment on them so we shall see how it goes. For dessert it's another HD recipe for apple and blackberry crumble but using cornflakes as the topping.

DD13 is struggling socially and has asked me to find out about any clubs in the area. She quite wants to do Martial Arts but I'm not sure about it. I think she thinks after a couple of weeks she will be a ninja :rotfl:. The discipline would be good as would the physical exercise but I'm not sure how she would manage talking to strangers as she is extremely shy and self-conscious. I guess the only way to find out is to try it.

Well that's all for now, hope everyone manages to have a good day. Take care and as always, gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning all,

yesterday wasn't quite as planned as I had a flare up (first for 6 weeks) and was struggling to walk; I was disappointed (to say the least) as the new meds had been just short of miraculous, but hey ho I'm not nearly as crocked today so onwards and upwards.

Raining and colder here so a busy round the house day is in order.

Today, shopping bags will be made, pencils will be found and I suppose the ironing pile will be reduced. Dinner is defrosting as we speak and I shall stew the FREE apples I was given yesterday :T

TTFTM - good luck with the interview
Camelot - hope it goes well
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
