I've found some trifle sponges in the cupboard still fully sealed but dated 7/8/13. They look fine but I have no idea what kind of lifespan I can expect them to have. Normally trust my own judgement rather than dates but don't usually buy trifle sponges...
Any thoughts appreciated!

Is it a best-before date?
I'd use them quite happily; after all, they're just stale cake in the first place.:rotfl:Avoiding plastic, palm oil and Nestlé0 -
They sgould be fine, taste a bit of one, if it tastes rank, put it on the bird table otherwise bung 'em in a trifle0
