Washing for a large family
Hi, we are a family of 6 and I'm struggling to keep on top of the washing. 3 children are at school and my other half has a work uniform and also we have a toddler. Ordinary vinegar in chutney instead of balsamic/wine?
I fancy making some chutney (haven't done it for a long time) and Aldi Super 6 has red onions for 49p a kg this week, which would fit the bill nicely. But every recipe I find seems to ask for half balsamic vinegar and half red wine vinegar, neither of which I ever buy, and which would make the recipe quite expensive. Do…

Zoflora in laundry rinse water for drying clothes indoors
This might be obvious to some, but to me it was a revelation and has made such a difference! With current wet weather I've had to dry alot of washing indoors. I usually do it overnight in the dining room with a dehumidifier running. Still, I noticed some things didn't smell as fresh as they should especially hormonal…

Kenwood Major - quick question if I may...
I have a kenwood major which I absolutely LOVE, however, Whenever I mix anything in it, the mixture always gets caught on the blade and sides of the bowl and I always have to get my spatula in to get it off and also give it a good mix around. This doesn't appear to happen on the tv........ Is this normal - or do I need to…

Great idea for mixed leftovers...well I think so anyway!
Hi all, just thought I'd share this with you, and I hope it's useful. It is probably good for a singleton or couple really. Anyhow, I am here on my own at the mo, so don't buy huge amounts of food. I had family over on Sunday, and cooked a stuffed boned and rolled FR chicken with all the usual trimmings, veg, gravy, roast,…

OS food novice
Since giving up work recently (well last summer) to be a full time mum, I have been putting off being totally OS. Whilst very enthusiastically embracing charity shops, crafting/dressmaking and most areas of moneysaving/thrift, I am yet to conquer OS cooking/food shopping, mainly due to the fact that I can't stand cooking…

How to repair burn in lovely gilet ?
Happy New year everyone ! I have a lovely Lands End gilet - warm, cosy down in a nylon outer shell. I caught it on the iron yesterday and now have two tiny slits in the front bit where the poppers are. It is now gently leaking white fluffy down and I'd really like to repair (just to stop it leaking) it but don't know how.…

Saving money at home
I have just calculated that from Dec to March, on top of our usual bills, we have an additional £1500 going out (Car and Bike both need MOT, Service and Tax, Lighting needed fixing at home, 2 new tyres on the car plus spends for a holiday in Feb) We have decided now we are married to turn our wedding jar into a Christmas…
