Now I have your attention, how much cake mixture do you reakon I'll need to fill a rectangle tin 13"lengh/ 8"width/ 2" deep? I'm thinking possibly a 8 egg mixture?

I'm making a retirement cake in a couple of weeks time and am planning to carve a van shaped cake, crossed fingers

Any wisdom will be appreciated.:D

tbh - I am not sure - but I do remember Ina Garten making a large tray cake - check out www.foodnetwork.co.uk as I think the recipe and baking times were on there.

You'll need double what you'd use for an 8 inch diameter cake tin 2 inches deep, or double what you'd use for 2 8 inch sandwich tins (1 inch deep)
