Hi everyone
I am hoping that you resourceful folk can help me out. When decluttering my kitchen drawers I found a few odds and ends of nice smelling oils and 1 bottle of essential oil from the days when i had oil burners. The oil burners are long since gone but I am not sure what to do with the leftover oil. Can you make your own fabric fresher or something?
An ideas would be gratefully received

Firstly give it a sniff - essential oils can and do go off so if it is very old it may not smell nice!.
To make a scented room spray/fabric refresher, put 1/3 cheap vodka, 2/3 distilled (I used boiled) water and enough drops of essential oil to smell nice. The vodka makes the oil disperse in the water.
I sometimes put a few drops on a facecloth in the tumble drier to make clothes smell good.
Also, a few drops on a tissue (or cloth) put on the radiator makes the room smell lovely.
A couple of drops in the airing cupboard and car.
I don't know what oil it is, but if it is suitable for skin, mix a few drops in milk (disperses the oil) and use in a bath. You cannot do this with all oils though so check first.
Hope that helps0 -
Lavender pure oil can be used direct in skin, where others can't, so can be added to facecreams to revive them, or to basic E45 to create a nice smelling skin cream
The life of the oil is about 2 years so if any older will be deteriorating but still smell okish - if it is lavender that you've got, can soak strips of fabric and keep in bottom of wardrobe as a moth deterrentYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
If you have any half used bars of soap grate them with a cheese grater, add a couple of drops of essential oil and form into balls, then leave to dry. I've done this with teatree oil, I call it snowball soap#84 Make £2020 in 2020 challenge

Also if you put them in a box and tie with ribbon, snowball soap is a nice gift idea. I have given them to friends for Christmas in the past and they were very well received. Plus they cost very little and are quite therapeutic to make#84 Make £2020 in 2020 challenge

You can use them to refresh sachets and drawer liners, put them in the bottom of the shower when you have a cold (some are more suited to this than others) use them to refresh potpourri/dried flowers and all sorts of things. However, be careful with anything that might touch your skin--i.e. ironing water, bath water etc. even those generally safe can cause reactions in some, so just do a test first. I made a lovely linen spray with lavender oil once and had a reaction to using it on my sheets.:o0

Put a few drops on a tissue or cotton wool ball and put it into the bag of your vaccuum cleaner. This will deoderise all your carpets and make the room smell lovely too.0

Thank you all so much :T
I've had a sniff and it smells really nice so I am assuming it is still OK. I am going to make sure it is put to good use. Thanks again,

If you have kids, lavender and tea tree are great for deterring nits. I make up a wee spray bottle with about a teaspoon of conditioner, a cup or so of water and about 4 or 5 drops of essential oil. I spray my wee one's hair every day before school and she never gets nits now. And it's cheaper than buying detangling spray!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I think I'd be tempted to look for a new oil burner in the pound shop....I'm pretty sure that's where mine came from, & I'm currently using up all my old essential oils in it before I'm allowing myself to buy any more room scenting products of any kind.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
