OS food novice

Options
Since giving up work recently (well last summer) to be a full time mum, I have been putting off being totally OS.

Whilst very enthusiastically embracing charity shops, crafting/dressmaking and most areas of moneysaving/thrift, I am yet to conquer OS cooking/food shopping, mainly due to the fact that I can't stand cooking and would far rather rely on largely pre-prepared/convenience food from M&S/Waitrose. We also eat out a couple of times at the weekend, which I would like to cut down to just the once.

We have a lot to save for at the moment and know that I am wasting lots of £££ on eating this way. Would love some ideas/tips on feeding a family cheaply, that don't involve spending hours in the kitchen. Would especially appreciate the following advice to get me started!..

1. Cheap and easy way to remove limescale. We have just had a new bathroom fitted and it is already starting to form around the taps.

2. Know soda crystals are used by a lot of OS and so bought some when in Wilkos the other day. What do I actually do with them though??!!

3. Really nice chilli recipe for my slow cooker. Bit of a family favourite and the type of thing we love to eat when we go out.

Many thanks in advance..

Limescale respond to any form of acid - vinegar or lemon for example. If you squeeze a lemon cut into four and wrap round the taps for a couple of hours.

Soda crystal can be used to de-grease anything or used a laundry soak.

    Have you learned about star-drops?
