Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone
Feeling fed up this morning. Shan't bore you with it all but roll on weekend.
Plans are to start some ironing shortly (why put off the inevitable) while I have peace and quiet and rest of day is finishing off cleaning the house.
No sure what's for tea at the moment
Hugs and spoons all round xxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all,
slept marginally better than i have done over the previous few nights. Dogs still got me up for a wee though at 3am but at least i was able to go back to sleep. I'm feeling a bit better than i have been feeling over the past few days. I am hoping the worst of it is over for another 12 months at least. I am pretty healthy most of the time but this must be natures way of reminding me that i'm not immortal.
Bad dreams got me up early this morning and all my old insecurities have come flooding back but i'll fight them every step of the way.
No snow here but everywhere is coated in a thick layer of white ice. Tretcherous driving conditions.... stay safe all my friends out there! I am fortunate i dont have to go out today but i know i am a very lucky woman.
Daughter popped in last night for her mail. Her baby bump is coming along nicely and she has had none of the bad early morning symptoms of pregnancy. No sickness, no tiredness as such. She's very fortunate. I suffered to a degree with all my pregnancies.
Not much to do today.
Vacuuming downstairs
Maybe i'll have a clean of the windows but we will see how i feel.
Tea tonight will be Spaghetti bolegnese. I'm one step in front with the meal planning today. Long may it continue!
Wrap up warmly friends and stay safe out there. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Bitsy - Hugs to you xx
be back later - I hope xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Morning all,
Brrr cold and frosty here this morning, wrap up warm and drive carefully.
Great news for us yesterday, dd got an offer from the uni she wantred :T, this is the one where 700 applied for 40 places, I am so proud of her, this is the one she had set her heart on, so I get to keep her at home for a while longer, although she may look to move out after the first year. We are both very pleased
Work today, then dinner tonight is fish fingers chips and beans, nice and easy, I need to do a wash, and get that on the airer.
Asda delivery tonight, was not really impressed by last weeks food, but thought I would give them another go, if this is no good then I shall go back to Tesco.
Have good days all and keep warm xx0 -

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Now gettting light, no new snow overnight, but we have freezing fog and still very cold, don't know how icy the roads will be.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, mash, veg and gravy - just the right kind of meal for this horrible cold weather. Tonights dinners will be a bit disjointed as guy from bathroom company should be coming over to measure up etc and give me some prices - that's if he get's here! Forecast is not good again for this area from tomorrow - so have already placed an on-line food order for tomorrow - so I don't have to go out and hoping it gets here! But in true OS style I do have enough food to be going on with just helped me time-wise to have an online delivery. Another bathroom company booked to visit on Friday morning - again depending on what happens with the weather as to whether he arrives.
Have made some inroads into the bulging storecupboards and freezer, I need to go to L**l to get some baking potatoes as I've run out, for dinner tonight will be jacket potatoes, I will have tuna mayo and side salad with mine, boys will probably have fish/fish fingers and then I will feed DH later when he comes in. Have everything in except the potatoes so sort of OS! There's no potatoes left in the sack big enough for jackets. Will take the laptop with me and drop in to the computer shop on my way back, it doesn't seem to be working properly - but its Windows 8 and I've never used that before so don't really know what I'm doing and I can't get it to do what I want so will ask for some advice.
Had an email request yesterday asking to give my gas and electric meter readings - I did those and even though I'm on a fixed and fall tariff - the bill from October 12 for electric was £179 and gas was £282 - I don't see at all how they are both that much as I've decreased the amount of time that the heating is on by over an hour a day. But I don't remember whether I read the meters last time or whether they were estimated readings - but luckily I had a credit of £170 on electric account and £180 on gas - so although not good not as bad as it could have been - really scary though for vunerable people on fixed incomes - it's not good when I see my customers at work and some of the older generation actually say to us I have to chose between having the heating on or have a meal as I can't afford both - how awful is that? Our churches together in our town are now in the process of setting up a food bank as so many people are struggling.
Have the normal list of chores that I need to get done, today I really need to get the washing/drying/ironing done and housework so house is presentable when/if these guys come to measure up bathroom etc. DH is working Sat morning, so I will be able to bake/cook then at my leisure if I don't get it done today/tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Good Morning All
It is sooo cold here too but still no snow :j
Congratulations for DD Redruby
Having a running around day today, dropping DD off then heading into town, have got all her wrk tips to pay in her account, she leaves it a few weeks then it is a nice lump sum, then taking an old phone into an exchange shop. Hopefully they will give me a decent amount otherwise will have to put it on ebay.
Once home have some important calls to make then finish off the ironing and clean the bathrooms so not too bad at all.
Have got loads of office work today but think that will be for tomorrow
Nice and easy tea tonight, will either be omelettes or egg and chips.
Have a great day all.x0
