Packed lunch salad goes soggy...
Ok...this might sound like a really daft question but how do I stop my packed lunch salads going soggy? The past few times I've made a salad for work they have been soggy and wilted and completely unedible by the time my lunch comes around. I generally make the salad the night before. I have tried keeping the salad…

Help! Looking for glue to repair Timberland boots.
As per thread title, managed to drop a knife on my new timberlands. Knife carved a small "flap" from the front of the boot, currently hanging on by the bottom of the flap. Thinking I could probably glue this back on then wax over to fill any "gap" left over. Any recommendations? thanks  Posted this on the wrong board…

How to reduce my chicken stock?
For the first time ever I remembered to make stock from my roast chicken carcass & veg ends. I covered it with water (about 2 pints) and left it in the slow cooker for 9 hours today (on low). I've just sieved it but it's quite thin so I think I need to reduce it on the hob. Do I bring it to the boil? And how long for?…

Do I need a soup maker?
I think I do. However, I wonder whether I should instead be looking at a microwave pressure cooker £6ish plus a stick blender £10ish versus £50 for a soup maker. Has anybody had experience of using a microwave pressure cooker? I don't relish having a saucepan bubbling away on the hob with all the attendant steam so think…

I was in a BHF charity shop today and a Muffin Maker sort of jumped into my hands:j(I did pay for it!). It appears to be unused and I am dying to try it, but just wondered if anyone can give me a review of these gadgets. Could I make mini cup cakes in it or would they rise too much? What about other recipes? It is a…

Removing writing indents??
Hi, I didn't know where to post this, but wondered if anyone has any ideas. I've bought an old out of print book for a Christmas present, which was printed in 1943. Only 10 quid too, so very pleased. But, it had quite modern pencil writing on the first page, which I've rubbed out but has left indents. Does anyone know of…

Spending money to save money?
Apologies if I'm duplicating a running thread. I did search, I promise! Anyway. I do pretty well with OS saving but I know there's a lot more I could do. The problem is, most of them involve quite a lot of money on an initial set-up. And I do hate a false economy. It just isn't as simple as "a breadmaker saves you [price…
