O/S for Tuesday 20th November 2012

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 20th November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now getting light, its raining and very wet underfoot here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Dinner last night was jacket potato, and LO's from the fridge, went down quite well. Remembered to get the meat out to defrost last night, so tonight we will be having steak and kidney stew, with mash and veg.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got going with the dirty washing mountain, but still have more and then the drying and ironing - will crack on with this later today. Did get the housework done and several jobs on the pc, also organised myself for going xmas shopping today in the next town, will be leaving early so I can be there for when the shops open, have my list at the ready, don't want to be too long so I can get back get it all wrapped, labelled and stored. I'm planning to get my xmas cake made and cooked this afternoon too, so may need to cook tonight's stew in the slow cooker so I keep the oven free. Have quite a few prezzies to buy as not done that much of my shopping throughout the year, but I'm aiming that today I will get it pretty much finished (may just be stocking fillers and bits for my boys left to do etc) but if everything else is done I'll be more than happy with that. Hoping to get another productive day whilst on my week off.

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

  • Good morning all,
It is very dull, wet and windy here today. So wet when i took the dog out for a walk, although it wasn't raining then. It started to rain when we got home.
Shalva, thinking of you and your family at this difficult time x.
Uolypool, well done to your ds.
Off to work in a few minutes, going in a little later than usual.
Everywhere is tidy, washing is on the airer.
Tea tonight is baked liver and veg for me and hubby and because the girls can't stand liver they are having cottage pie and veg. The cottage pie is one i made and put in the freezer a couple of weeks ago. I made a big batch of leek, potato and carrot soup last night. Plenty of portions for dd to take to school. Need to get more baking done when i get home from work.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Cold, wet and blustery here, I think the last few remaining Autumn leaves will take a battering today. It always makes me sad seeing the trees finally bare for the Winter and I can't wait to see the tiny buds returning in Spring.

Dinner last night turned into tonight's as we got home really late and just had a snack instead. HM soup for lunch, I am happy to eat soup every day at this time of year.

DH is developing a nasty cold and he still has 5 weeks of term and says he is exhausted. So I think it will be a very non-eventful evening and an early night for him and I can do some more decluttering, Oxfam bagging and ebay listing. The bathroom is sparkling and has nothing in there that should not be there, so let's see if I can get another room into the same shape.

Back to work for me so I will leave with well wishes for sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Have a super day :)

:wave:Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well.
Hugs to those that need one .
hilstep2000 it sounds like you are doing great without your bp tablets. Hope it continues for you that way.
Well like everyone else is saying, its a very wet, grey and miserable day here in Birmingham. I still cant believe it when i look and see I have written Birmingham. I moved here 5 1/2 years ago but will never be a Brummie.
I have done the school run,(hate city school runs, so stressful) and have returned to tidy up and put a wash on. Just doing a college assignment and then going to meet my daughter and grandaughter for lunch and a mooch around the shops. Will be having chicken thigh for dinner but not sure what else.
Not a lot going on, would love to mooch around the charity shops but will see as its so wet outside.
Hope everyone has a good day and stays well and dry. xxx

    morning all!

late shift for me today - not looking forward to going in, am hoping nobody else has come down with the bug.

LW - strong smell of wet dog here too! There must be a lady dog in season nearby as Mig our old lurcher has been standing up the garden in the rain and won't come in - I think he can smell omance in the air:D persuaded both dogs in with a bit of toast and butter which they love!

Tomorrow is D day for Louie dog - he's off for his op! we've put a big dog cage up in the lounge so he can rest afterwards quietly away from the other dog - they usually share a bed.

Have cleaned the bathroom and run the vac round downstairs. Washing is on the airer as its wet here.

Just having a coffee then I want to do a bit of painitng - don't have as much time now the afternoons are shorter and the light isn't very good.

Beemuzed - all the best for DH today x

    (((hugs))) to those in need

    take care all x x
    Do what you love :happyhear
