Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 19th November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All,
Monday already ....
Been up most of the night with DS who kept having nightmares about witches....Jodie kept us company on the bottom of his bed
. Her KC is slowly going but her tabs run out today so will have to ring for more.
Today DD's to school, me and DS at home :T, plumber coming to fix a loose bath tap, will be making Mary Berry fruit cake wih condensed milk, tea is LO roast from y'day.
Have good days xx

Morning all - chilly here. It was a weekend of cooking disasters; the lamb stew was unbearably tough, and yesterday I managed to let the steamer boil dry, ruining carrots & peas (and possibly the pan itself which is black now). Oh well.
Working 4.5 days this week. On a new mission not to buy food at work, so taking in a small pack of cheese, 6 eggs, tin of beans; they provide free bread etc so I won't starve. Defrosting some mince so will do a shepherds pie tonight; got lots of mushrooms and potatoes to use up. If I can stop DH eating the leftovers, I'll have lunch for 2 days.

Good morning BB and all who follow, brrr its a frosty one this morning.I had a lovely visit from my sis-in-law yesterday she is off to Mexico in ten days time to see my niece who lives out there with her OH and two boys.Apparently its 73f at the moment so she will get a fortnight's sun in before the weather gets too cold over here,I have told her to bring some of it back:)
I woke really early this morning and was wide awake so again I got up and have already prepped stuff for dinner tonight.I think I must have slept a bit funny on Saturday as my back has been really stiff and sore since yesterday morning and I just can't seem to get comfortable ,or maybe its just old age is catching up:)Still a hot water bottle may loosen the bones a bit. This morning after the school run I have a prize giving to go to as Mikey has won 'Star of the month' in his class so I am the 'face' he will look for this morning when he gets his certificate. Then I will pop up to see Shelley and she how she is behaving herself, and whizz the hoover and duster around for her, then back to youngest DDs house to let the dogs out for a run in the garden then hopefully home for lunch and feet up for half an hour before picking up the boys from school. The weeks are just flying by and it will soon be Christmas and I have yet to buy some of the main presents.I have six birthdays before Christmas so this is a busy time.I may go online and she what i can get to save me some time.I hate shopping at the best of times, I can always think of better things to be doing
:)
Well time for a cuppa and a shower then breakfast, its all go in my house:)
Have a good day everyone and keep wrapped up warm
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Hugs for a better week Hester xx
Bio liquid in bottom of pan or bio powder made into a paste to cover the bottom works very well to remove black off pans xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Hello all,
Hot drinks and hot water bottles seem like a good idea today.:)
1. I am cooking all meals at home today from fridge and freezer.
2. I decided not to buy any more toiletries for the rest of the year and just use up what I have or use porridge oats and olive oil to make homemade face masks and salt/sugar to make face or body scrubs.
3. I have some episodes of Superscrimpers to watch!:rotfl:0 -
Morning all,
An early post from me as was up at 5 to take mum and dad to the airport. They are safely checked in and their assistance organised, but I shall be on pins until I know they are safely landed in Perth with my brother.
Lamewolf just caught up with yesterday's thread, thank you for the recipe. I won't need it this year as I shall be in the sunshine:cool: but it is safely tucked away for next year. I love Christmas pud x
Had a lovely day with family yesterday and my dd new bf was a great hit with everyone:D
Managed a thirty minute run last night. I have discovered I love running in the dark.
Today off out with dh quite a bit of admin to do. So a quick bowl of cereal and then off out.
It's very cold and windy here today. Tea tonight will be salad for me just for a change and pork chops for the boys.
Plan to put the suitcases on the spare bed later and begin packing bits and bobs.
Have a lovely Monday xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Thank you for the hugs Miffy - you are always so good at remembering people:T
I hope Shalva and Bemuzzled are doing ok and thinking of you both x
I have a burst of energy today and am going to try and scour my wet room as it has not been done for an age. I could ask my cleaner tomorrow but Im a bit precious about it as it is the first proper and posh room we have ever had renovated.
Washing on as well. May get DD to help me with some cooking later if she is amenable - being the operative word as she has been a right baggage of late:mad:

Morning everyone
Tiglath - as someone else has said, try soaking pan in bio washing powder, and then if not a non stick pan using a brillo pad to clean up.
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Light cloud, but a strange colour so not sure what that will bring, but another frosty start. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Got back yesterday afternoon, a busy but very enjoyable weekend, meal turned out very well on Friday night after an initial panic when we'd started cooking the chicken and lost all power to the cooker and electric sockets in the kitchen! Fortunately we had several folks about and they went to fiddle in the fuse box and got the power restored (although they admitted they don't know what they did as trip switch etc was ok!). Food was good and the company excellent so turned out to be much more enjoyable than I expected. Have a fridge full of LO's so will be trying over the next couple of days to use these bits up before starting anything else, so meals may be a few strange combinations! DH is now in his new role, so will be a busy bee, but am looking forward to it all and meeting and making lots of new friends within the caravanning scene we're involved with.
Not sure what we will be having for dinner tonight, but will be something out of the fridge that needs using up.
I'm intending to get my Christmas shopping done this week, may go today or tomorrow. Once I'd unpacked yesterday (there was loads of it as I'd had to take loads of kitchen equipment as hall we used didn't have any pots, pans or cookware or utensils!). Got everything put away last night and got all the bags unpacked, so although I have washing etc not in a too bad position today. Will be getting stuck in as I don't want to waste this week as I'm on holiday all week. Also got the fruit weighed out for the xmas cake - that's now soaking in brandy - so I will make that either today or tomorrow, will also get the xmas puds made too.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning All
It is not as cold as yesterday here, which will save on the heating bill.
We are going to Ikea this morning, because I need to pick up some material, some more candles and have a mooch in their Christmas section. We will have breakfast there £1.50 each with the family card not bad for a hot breakfast plus as many cups of coffee as we want.
Molly I know what you mean about DD's being a pitamy DS helps me much more than DD :A
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
