It's an office tradition to bring cakes in for your birthday (I've always thought people should bring you in cake, but nevermind!) and as I'm a keen baker, I've always done homemade. On a bit of a budget this year, now having a mortgage to pay, so just wanted some inspiration for cheaper cakes please. Not bothered by…

I've just been drying up my boyfriends lunch box which I washed yesterday and when I lifted the lid there were tons of tiny things underneath, I guess they are maggots of somekind. Bleach on a copper jug
Accidentally splashed bleach on a copper jug. I have rinsed it off, opened a window just in case (on third large box of tissues today, no exaggeration, not sure if there are fumes). Any suggestions for what is good for copper, and will it recover from the bleach? Very grateful.

Make frozen mixed veg more exciting?
Hi all, as the title suggests, I'm after something slightly more interesting to do with frozen mixed veg! It used to be the only veg that OH would eat (until I moved in and we started growing our own!) so we've always got a bag in the freezer. I always get my 5 a day, but OH doesn't like fruit and doesn't really eat that…

As an OSer scratch cooking, what ingredients are going to be effected by poor crops?
I'm looking to build my stocks in preparation for rising prices/shortages of ingredients due to poor crops this year. Can we help build a comprehensive list at all? I have read that tea is effected. Some may argue this isn't important... I would argue it's vitally important :D
