In 2 years I will earn the same money as working five days but in the meantime I would like to reduce my living costs 20%. I don't lead an extravagant life but have 3 children who cost me a lot. ;) So…

Throwing away envelopes- should I destroy name and address?
I wasn't sure what forum to put this in, but here seems as good a place as any. Currently, when I throw away an envelope, I cut my name and the first line of my address up into little pieces so it can't be read. Am I being paranoid? Do I only need to destroy important information like bank statements? Or is this a…

Home made brown soda bread. Yum, but the crust is too hard!
Hi all, Am a great fan of soda bread, so easy peasy and yummy with real butter when still warm. But, I find the crusts can be like the Rock of Gibraltar! Tooth crunching hard, so I just cut it off. I've tried covering the loaf with a damp tea towel when out ofnthe oven but it doesn't really work. I have a mouthful of…

'Anti' hoarding?
Hello everyone. The name of this thread doesn't quite explain what I mean. There are threads about hoarding but I can't see any recent ones about how I approach and feel about possessions and 'stuff'. I feel the need to regularly clear out cupboards and sort through my things. I will then donate items I do not feel I need…

HM juice
Hi all, looking at ways to cut down the shopping bill and was wondering - OH drinks a bottle a day of juice such as Coppella (750 ml) - and although I only buy when on offer it's still £7+ a week! Would I be better off investing in a juicer? Any recipes/ideas of costs anyone can share? Thankyou

Does anyone have an Irn Bru fudge recipe?
I tried Irn Bru fudge at a farmers market recently and I'd like to be able to make it at home. Does anyone know how this can be done as I'd imagine just adding irn bru to fudge would alter the liquid content too much for it to set.

cupcake machine - small batch recipes please
I love love love my mini cupcake maker for when I am in a hurry and just need a few cakes for tea/picnic/packed lunch. If I want more than 6 cakes I use my cupcake trays and oven. I also like the machine because it lets my 8 yr old DD make cakes all on her own without me worrying about ovens and hot baking trays I only…

Cooking for Special Diet

The eating plan is largely Mediterranean-style, which we both enjoy. We are allowed chicken (has to be organic, which is very expensive), game and fish. There are, however, banned items and I…
