Hi, this is the Daily Thread for19th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly butif not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Full scale panic setting in here, never mind just a few hours worry time, lol.
We have our first visit from social services on Tuesday & the reality of it is beginning to seep in, eeek.
As soon as I've finished my cuppa I off up to my sewing room, I need to get it finished before Tuesday as hubby & I are out for the day on Monday.
DD keeps reassuring me that they are only checking on rooms & room sizes & they will not worry it the tops of the doors are clean etc.
I cleaned out the fridge & roasted all the odd bits of veg I could find, I ate it with rice & it was delicious & had a bit of a kick to it as there were a few chillies in it. Hubby had sausageinnabun, he's not really a roast veg sort of person, lol. I also sorted out the study & it all looks tidier now I've put all the odd cables in a bag instead of having them strewn on a shelf.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow

HH - try not to panic! I'm sure it will all go smoothly with SS

I'm awake stupidly early again today :( I hope that by the end of my week off I get at least one lay in!

No proper plans today, may meet a friend for coffee. Otherwise I think I'm going to potter around doing stuff in the house and some college work. I'll go for a walk/jog later too.

OS wise - ydays laundry still not quite dry yet so will put airer outside, floordrobe needs to be put away. If it stays dry may put WM on with bedding.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all:j:j

    Warm but dull outside.

Well Im the only one that's up so far. Looks like everyone is having a lie in but me. Twin two has gotten out of bed just after me but she went straight from her bed into our bed and is now asleep on my side of it.

The sun did come out here in the end yesterday. But not until late afternoon, Tho from lunchtime onward it was very humid here.

The Twins are off to church with my wife this morning. Then off to the MILs for dinner and then to the great grand parents this afternoon.
My wife and I will be having roast pork for dinner today. Served with carrots, colly , roast spuds.

I will be making a start on cleaning out the shed today. And my wife will hopefully! make a start on sorting some of the girls old toys and books out. They have so many that they no longer play with. Some of them are now far too young for them.

Well I hope that you all have a great day.

    Enjoy:j:j

    Take a look at this.

Think you've got a bad job? Indian 'sewer diver' paid just £3.50 a day (plus a bottle of booze) to unclog Delhi's drains

  • Good morning all,
Warm here already. Washing is out on the line.
Hubby has gone to bed, he has work tonight. One of dd's has work, only for a couple of hours and other dd is going out for the day with her bf and his parents.
I will get the few bits of ironing done in a little while before it really warms up. I want to get some baking done as well. Will have to see what ingredients i have in because i am not going out today.
Tea tonight is chicken breasts with potatoes and salad. Everyone in my household said that if it was going to be another hot day they didn't want a roast. I didn't have to be told twice :D.
hh, I hope your visit goes smoothly.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Good Morning All

Hester - I have done a couple of home visits for an Adoption Company - it mainly was basic health and safety - I certainly wouldn't have noticed if there was dust on the fridge :D if I had I would have thought - thats just like my house :rotfl:

Halight - I saw that article - made me feel ill.

Well just had one of the worst nights sleep of my life - dont know exactly how hot it was but it was darn hot. DD said is was 42c in the fish shop & most customers shouted their order from the door rather than wait in the heat.

Today is set to be even hotter so we are going to ignore the housework, ironing and everything else & just have a garden day. OH normally loves the heat but this is too hot even for him. We are very lucky to have an easy set pool and I probably will be spending most of the day inside it.

Will be barbecue tonight, have some tuna pasta salad in the fridge that everyone can help themselves too.

So very little MS today although plan a no spend or at least very low spend day.

    Morning all,

So hot here already, got all the windows and doors open trying to get a breeze, yesterday was so hot, jeans dried on the line in an hour, OH and I were rubbing down and painting the ceiling, silly really but it all needs to be done and dried out before the floor goes down. Today will be the walls

Got a towel wash in the wm will get that on the line in a while, need to drop dd at work this morning, at least she is inside today, she was outside on the farm yesterday

Dinner will be something simple like jacket spuds cheese ham etc, cant be bothered with cooking a meal after a days decorating.

Still no luck with a blind, thanks for the suggestion elona, it may come to that, will pop into town this week and have a look round, I have seen one online for £30 but its not linen, but might have to do.

Have good days all, and be careful in the heat.

Please put some water out for the birds if you can xx

    Morning everyone,

    Hester Good luck.

It is sunny here but nowhere near the temperatures down south, i think that we might make 23 degrees later!

DD1 had a horrible experience yesterday. She was sat in the park with her friend and these two girls came up to them, threatened to punch DD1 and stole her phone and her jacket.
She was very shaken up but very brave, we spent 2 hours in the police station yesterday and we are going back today to look at photos of suspects.
We will get the money back on insurance for the phone and jacket but that it not important. I want my children to be able to go out without fear of violence.

    Tea tonight is pork chops.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Hope your DD is ok and that she will start to feel safe again when out and about, But that may take time. She should not let scum like this stop her going out and enjoying herself.

I hope that they get the scum that did this.
