Bleach on a copper jug

Accidentally splashed bleach on a copper jug. I have rinsed it off, opened a window just in case (on third large box of tissues today, no exaggeration, not sure if there are fumes).
Any suggestions for what is good for copper, and will it recover from the bleach? Very grateful.

Chris25 - thank you, that is really helpful.
I've rinsed the jug really well, but the lovely pinkish auburn glow is now a sort of patina. Hopefully with a bit of elbow grease it will be fine. I am going to start on traditional copper polish, but try and maintain with lemon juice and salt.
