Does anyone know if it is OK to use vinegar to descale my Polti steamer. Polti's kalstop is mega expensive and surely it is just like a huge kettle?

we do have a thread on descaling kettles which may help with general descaling information but if it is very expensive I would suggest you contact the manufacturer
Hope this helps

Thanks, obviously they say only use Kalstop but they would, wouldn't they?Building a new life after bankruptcy0

I am really interesting in knowing that too. I am contemplating buying a Polti steamer but I am reluctant to buy chemicals to descale it.0

I wouldn't be without mine. I have had it for years. It had a small fault and has just been away for repair but is right as rain now. When we had a pub I used to steam the floors and carpets with it and when we had a guesthouse we used to steam the beds. I am about to move house soon and no offence to the previous owner but I like to steam it from top to bottom then it feels really cleanBuilding a new life after bankruptcy0

A Polti is an awfully expensive gadget to be trying to cut corners on. I'd say have a go if it were a twenty quid steamer from the supermarket, but not a Polti.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

Yes, my mum has a Polti too, they are very popular in France (as they tend not to have so much carpet there).
We are in the process of buying a house too and this is why I really want a steam cleaner as wellWell, not just for move-in day obviously, but it would make my work much easier.
If I can't get one, it'll be good old white vinegar and hot water :rotfl:

Well, I used the Tesco Clubcard Exchange to buy a brand new Polti steam cleaner almost for free
I can't wait to start using it now!!!
