Frozen butternut squash ...
By which I mean, a butternut squash which was in the outside fridge when things got so cold that it froze inside the fridge. I have brought it in to see if I can salvage it. It was extremely easy to cut, and the flesh is frozen on the inside. Would I still be able to use it to make soup? It only needs to taste ok, how it…

This is probably on the grabbit board but in case like me you don't go there - aldi have some great cheap cast iron casseroles in atm. I got a 30cm shallow casserole (like the Le cru buffet) for £25. I am normally a Le Creuset snob but at £130 the buffet has always been out my reach and at that price I couldn't not get one…

Softening jam
:hello: I making a Victoria sponge later. I want to use my mum's damson jam in the middle, but it's set a bit hard & is difficult to spread. How can I soften it so I can get a nice even covering without ripping the sponge to pieces? I'd guess to warm it up, but what's the best way? Thanks, MBE

I have started baking all my own bread, which I love, but my waistline doesn't really :o Can anyone tell me how to work out calories/loaf/slice? Help ! I treated myself to a M&S green silicone christmas tree baking mold, and I plan to make a victoria sponge type cake in it, split it and put buttercream in it and on top, but all my vic sponge recipes do it in two tins, so if anyone has one of these pretty green things (an unnecessary impulse buy I now realise !)-…
