Can't get fudge out of tin, heeeeelp!!

Options
Hi everyone,

I've made some fudge usinf Nigella's recipe but with hazelnuts, yum yum. Now I can't get it out of the tin :o Looking back I probably should of lined the tin but I didn't.

I've tried cutting it into quarters (in the tin) the turning it upside down and bashing it against the worktop. Then I cut one quarter into small squares and tried to lift them with a knife and still no luck. I've probably ruined the tin and although the fudge tastes nice I need to get it out and cut up before I ruin a knife too.

Any advice or tips or any help to stop me cutting it out square by square and still leaving most in the tin.

I've never tried it, but turning the tin upside down and pouring very hot water over it might soften the edges a bit to let it out?

Set the tin on top of the cooker ring for a few minutes the tin will heat up softing the edges of the fudge and it should should come out easier.

dip the base of the tin in very hot water - i would fill the sink, leave for a few seconds and then have a go at turning out, if it's not for budging give it another dip. if you turn it upside down and pour water on it you risk getting water in your fudge, doing it this way that shouldn't happen

or you could set a roasting pan on the hob get the water simmering (make sure it wont come up over the fudge tin) and leave the fudge in there for a few minutes and then try turning it out. otherwise its scraping it out with the wallpaper scraper!
I use a cheap non stick tin which I keep just for Toffee, fudges etc and I butter the tin and line with baking parchment. a bit belt and braces but i HAVE been in exactly the same predicament OP! nothing more frustrating than making a lovely batch of toffee, fudge or a cake and you cant get it out of the tin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ta for the help everyone :T
In the end I gouged a few pieces out and then had enough room to slide a slice thingy under it and take it out in quarters. Sitting it in warm water actually made it worse hehe and I had to shove it in the freezer for 20 minutes to reset.

Next time I'll line the tin. Glad it's made with dark chocolate because I'm not a fan really so it will last a bit longer, maybe until xmas... err hopefully :o It's really yummy in small doses.
